Hello, I just bought a Carver! 1979 Mariner 3396. I hope to learn from the forum.

There is a button above each of the ignition cylinders. What is it's purpose? On my boat - they buttons appear to do nothing. I had expected them to be a kill switch.

I am looking for some help on this one as it makes no sense to me



Picked up my boat from storage and found the port shifter in forward position is very stiff moving it forward to neutral however pulling it down into revers is very smooth.



Down in the salon the port shifter seems to be normal too... I started taking everything apart and with the cable removed from the fly bridge control the lever moves easily forward and reverse as expected.

My shades on port side are broken. They are Oceanaire and 83 inches or so and can not locate replacement or parts. Suggestion to replace larger Port and smaller Starboard side. Thanks again. MJB

My AC unit is acting up. When I turn it on, it runs its diagnosis and immediately goes to "heat", not cooling (which the temp setting says it should).



This is new and sudden and no codes show up on the (small) display.



When we lower the temp to force it go to "cool" it immediately shuts off.



It is a Marine Air Systems by Dometic model 7055 (I believe, tag is worn).



Anyone have any ideas what this might be?

Hi, I worked for a Carver dealer as a Tech. Went to Pulaski a couple of times for their school, let me tell you they had some really good people working there.
I found this flag in one of my boxes during my last move, it wasn't used during our last show and the only time it's been out of the bag is for this photo. If my memory is correct it's from 2002, but I'm not sure.
It's 36" X 60" and only has printing on one side. As you can see from the picture it has creases from it's 20 years in the bag, ...

Hello, I was checking the engine compartment and noticed that the port side is completely missing the part which is in the first two pictures. Looks like some kind of hydraulic component and the two lines that would feed it are ziptied to a hose above. Also, my port trim is not working. Does anyone know what the missing part is?Thanks!

I replaced the temp gauges yesterday, going to replace a sender on starboard engine. Port now needs steady, no tapping the gauge. It has a the original sensor. Starboard still runs higher close to 170 st idle. water is pumping. I am going to swap out starboard sensor this AM. I have the Sierra temp gauges. ‘Meh? Close to original, but not original.
