Last season after bottom paint to start season that was the extend of our trip on the water from boatyard to our dock 50 feet away. We ran into engine problems. My trusty mechanic came by towards the end of season, did all checking and testing and we w ...

Post Portholes

Went to replace the leaky portholes forward berth. Started to take apart, and son of a gun I never checked the tightness of the dogs that hold the window shut. I removed them, reset the nut and reinstalled and those window are now tight as heck! Rubber gasket was very pliable, so I am going to take a chance.

Also, uncovered the girl today, tomorrow some more canvas sewing, Sunday a little wax on the bridge areas and install the canvas. Yes, getting pretty close!

Post Over heating port engine

Hi all - our new to us port engine ('98 445 with Cummins 6CTA 8.3L Diamond Series, 300 hrs) is overheating when it hits 2,000 rpm. It runs all day 1800 or below but once it hits 2k the temp climbs. Once you back off the throttles and go below 2,000 the temp drops down to 160-180. The prior owner did acknowledge that the impeller broke apart and both he and my mechanic have fished out pieces of it. (we did buy the boat knowing this issues and asked for and received a decent price concession as ...

Post Battery charger settings

Hi all- I have a TrueCharge2 40A charger for my 2 8D flooded batteries. We recently bought our boat ('98 445 w/Cummins 8.3L engines). My question is - which Charge Mode is best? The prior owner had it set to "2 Stage" which is Bulk and absorption. The default setting on the charger is "3 Stage" which is Bulk, absorption and float. I don't know why he would use "2 Stage"? It seems to me that "3 Stage" so it's on float would be better. I would appreciate any advice and feedback.

Thanks!

Jay

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can purchase a new cap for our fresh water tank on our 1999 Carver 406? I've purchased two already and they aren't the correct ones.

Thank you very much!

Tony
