View the latest post boarding ladder

I'm sure this is an issue for all boaters when docking with a boat designed with a sun deck like a 3807. When you're docking with no assistance how do you get from the sun deck to the dock to secure lines? There could be a drop of 3 to 4 feet depending on the dock. We have the steps which attach on the side below the railing but you can't install from the boat deck. Has anyone designed a ladder attached to the gunnels which can be "flipped down" to allow a safe exit from the boat to the dock? We're both seniors and jumping from the deck or the swim platform to the dock is a accident looking to happen. Thanks.

View the latest post New A/C verses older ones.

88’ Carver 3807. Have 3 A/C units on my boat. 16, 9 and I think 6k btu. I believe they are original. They are freon R-22 units. They do reasonable, but at the peak of summer they struggle. Understandble with condenser water coming from the lake that’s in the 90s. We went to Kentucky to look at a newer carver yesterday. Water may have been a bit cooler, but it was comparable. The two units on that boat were less that a year old. Blowing absolute snowballs. Are the newer units that much better? I thought ours were fine until we experienced those.

View the latest post Looking at 570 Voyager

Hello,

Looking to purchase a Carver 570 Voyager.

Currently has Reverse Air Heat (Cruiseair) and the owner says it has a "Webasto diesel fired furnace in factory ventilation system."

Questions 1) As it is using the factory ventilation I assume it is not a hydronic style heater?
2) In factory air/heat systems which areas are heated and can it be controlled room by room?

Thanks in advance.

View the latest post 41 CMY A/C issue

Of the three issues I'm experiencing this one is the most perplexing. I have only been able to go out to the boat on the weekends, and last weekend when I got to the boat the A/C units were not running. No power. None of the Circuit breakers were tripped at the main panel, but after much searching I found that the main Shore 2 breaker was tripped. (it's in the transom locker where the shore power cords are connected.) I have LED"s on my shore cords and they are lit on both ends. After resetting the breaker the A/C units came back on but only ran for about a minute then the breaker tripped again. Since the main power is being removed I don't get an error message on the AC Panels. I could only see water coming from one of the Thru hulls in the time that they were running. The strainer and seacock are in a place that my old fat body cannot reach. It was so hot that day (105) that I ended up with a mild case of heat stroke trying to get down there to get at the strainer.
I'm making several assumptions here:
1) the strainer is clogged, or the pickup thru hull is clogged with the durn grass that grows in the lake.
2) This is causing the pump to pull more current than normal and when the compressors kick on it's over 30A, and that kicks the main breaker at the shore power input.
3) Since I was only able to see one exit thru hull, I'm assuming that the others have lost prime.
I got fuddled during the day (Heat) and didn't follow my normal troubleshooting procedure. I should have turned all the units off and then turned them on one at a time.
I cannot reach the strainer from the mid salon hatch. I have heard tales that the aft master cabin stairs come out, but I was not able to pull them up easily. They have to weigh a metric ton. I f I could get them up I think I could get to the seacock and the AC Strainer.

Does anyone know a trick to get at the AC Strainer?
Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm really surprised that the Main Breaker tripped. Really the only thing on Shore 2 is the HVAC.
I'm tempted to call the HVAC guy that the Marina recommended, but I don't want to miss something easy I could fix myself.

thanks

View the latest post Crusader 454 ECM R116021G

Hoping for some help from all you older Carver owners! We are having tachometer issues on the starboard. Checked the tach, it works when connected to port side, doesn't read when attached to starboard. Checked wires and basically, the mechanic thinks it's the ECM. All other systems are running fine on that engine. The part is R116021G. As feared, it is no longer available. I've seen some other forums where they talk about having it repaired and reprogrammed. Does anyone have experience with this or any other suggestions?

View the latest post New to me

Hello and thank you for this forum. I am the newest owner of a 3807 aft cabin. The boat is an 89 so it will need some love but is in overall nice shape. She thankfully came with every bit of info that Carver sent with her from new so please forgive me if I ask questions as I work through it all!
Looking forward to this!

View the latest post 96 350 Express

Hello,
I am helping fix up my Buddies 96 Trojan/Carver 350 Express, and I have found it difficult to find certain info.

so I have joined this forum to hopefully get educated. I have a ton of questions, but first.

Any info about the "Anchor Light" system would be greatly appreciated. specifically pics. Just not exactly where it is and how it ties into the electrical system.

Also, if there is already a thread created for my year and model, please let me know.

thanks
