Post New Sewing Machine

So, we bit the bullet and purchased a new sewing machine for the boat. Projects this summer will hopefully be redoing the banquette and some zipper extenders for the bimini. Purchased an Omega walking foot. They are Canadian based (yeah) and significantly less expensive than the SailRite. Looks to be the same machine, as they all do. After some "technical" difficulties, got the first project done. It isn't pretty and it isn't perfect but I am pleased with it. I can only improve from here! ...

Post 93 Mariner 330 "18L 19" Propeller

Am I correct to assume that this stamping on my propeller can be read as 18 inch diameter, Left engine rotation, 19 pitch ?

Reading through the many insightful posts, particularly on fuel mileage, rpm's, and efficiency...i saw many comments referring to 20, 21, 22 pitched props. This makes me question if 19's are appropriate. I expect they are original, and would think that 19s would give higher rpm than higher pitched props, but my rpms at WOT seem to be 3000/3100 max.

Just looking for insight ...

Post Backup Fuel Level Indication

93 Mariner 330 - one fuel indicator with P/S selector switch...I found the indication a bit inaccurate & unreliable. In addition, had reason to believe that the port & stbd were reversed - I was right, but easy fix, i simply rotated the switch 180 degrees and marked the new "top" of the switch to ensure future readings were accurate.

Still unhappy with less-than-certain fuel levels, i came up with a cool solution. I will try to post pictures.

-painter's masking tape

-standard 2-part epoxy, ...

Post Anti skid paint

Another project, (in addition to the Side Shift bow thruster, new enclosure, refrigerator) is I would like to freshen up the anti skid on the walk around, swim platform, cockpit and bow area. What do you all use? I saw AWLGRIP, with nonskid additive, gel coat with wax, without wax, granules to add, etc. OK, any ideas on how to do this? I know it will need to be leaned perfectly first……that’s all I know. Pretty confused.

Post Vertrifico Fridge

I got my Virtrifigo fridge today from DEFENDER. POOR installation directions. There is a metal bracket taped to the top and I haven’t a clue where it goes. I read i the manual that the front bracket can be adjusted to set the unit either deeper or more shallow in the cut out? Also, do they make a digital thermostat for it, rather than the mechanical one tucked right back inside? This is my view for the next 6 weeks as it sits in y office, awaiting for the launch and installation.

Post Fresh water pump.

Greetings all, we are spending our first night ( in the dock) on our 396. What a blast so far!! We went use our head and had no pressure. I went through the pressurization process and never came up to pressure. Pump was running constantly. Any tricks?
Cheers

Post 1998 405 Aft Cabin Window Replacement

I just purchased a 1998 405 aft cabin and starboard side window leaks as well as a slight leak from the forward windows have rotted the wood in the starboard bulkhead in the salon. I'm faced with removing, refurbishing and re-sealing them, or creating a template and replacing them. A couple of folks have told me that Carver windows aren't very well made and tend to leak.
Any knowledge and/or advice someone could share wit me?
Thanks

Post Used boat sales vs Marine fuel price

It should be interesting to see if there are a large number of used boats on the market this year once the pain of the high fuel prices hits home.

Still cheaper for you guys in the US, in Canada we are getting hammered, almost 1.80 a litre/6.84 CAD/ USG which is about 5.30 USD/USG and that is not marine gas, just highway. Diesel is even more.

A wild guess for marine gas in Canada to fill our old boat....250 USG total at 2.50 CAD/Litre = About 2375 CAD to fill from MT as opposed to approx. 1120 ...

Post Kohler 10eozd Generator Under Voltage Code

Kohler 10eozd diesel gen set is setting under voltage code when first cranked and shutting down.
If I keep trying to crank, it will eventually (after maybe 5 or so times) run and operate fine.
Seems to be a bad (corroded) connection or something.
Any suggestions on where to look or what to look for would be appreciated.
The manual is not much help on this code other than call for service.
