Post Bowthruster and 24 v charger

I pushed the button on the side shifter bow thruster. Even though the SS340 was rated for my 390CPMY, upon many discussions here and with the vendor I went with the 24V SS350 for 7 HP versus 4HP. With that big sail I have it won’t hurt.

Now I will be putting in 2 12V batteries in series to make the 24. They caution against deep cycle and to use starting batteries of a combined total of 800 CCA. I am hoping to fing AGM or Gel batteries, as the only place I can place them is either under the forwa ...

Post Anybody else have one of these?

--

So, on this new-to-us 2004 466, 'discovered' this Newmar box mounted on the forward engine room bulkhead, switched 'off'.

Previous owner says he has no idea what it is! I'm wondering if any other Carver owners might have one onboard & can enlighten me.

It says it is a DC-to-DC converter, and the labeling seems to indicate it steps up 12v to 24v at 6 amps, doesn't it?

I thought it might be somehow related to charging the 24V thruster battery bank from an engine alternator - but can find n ...

Post Removing oval windows to replace the screens.

The oval hatch type windows must be removed and replaced to replace the broken screens. I have removed the screws on the inside but I feel uncomfortable with using a screwdriver to pry it.

Post New owner, new question……

Hello all! I just bought a 1978 Santa Cruz 28’……which was RE powered and repropped to a 454. Boat is super solid as a project base, and just what I was hunting for.

My dilemma is this: the trailer is pretty rusty. I suspect it may be salvageable…….but it’s a double axle and only rated for 7k lbs. it’s a 1994 Metalcraft. Im getting bids to upgrade axles and get it made safe.

While doing this, I discovered that one of my business contacts is an EZ Loader dealer…….so I might get a bit of a deal ...

Post Carver swim platform project

I recently saw a garage built swim platform blog for a Carver 3207 Aft Cabin. I sold my Carver two years ago, but learned so much about owning a larger boat from you guys that I immediately thought about this site. The blog is well done and outlines the steps with pictures along the way.

I thought this may benefit someone considering replacing their platform. I think the steps and seat are a great add, and the additional storage would be awesome. This may have been posted a few years ago here, s ...

Post New Owner Looking For Parts

Hello all!
Have a 1988 Carver 4207. Beautiful craft but needs some small restoration parts; switch cover plates, galley counter edge trim, shower handheld wall hooks, hardware for covers on bridge overhead, etc. Will look at parts for sale but I’m also looking for a salvage source.
Thanks for any advice!

Post Carver 3607/3807 measurements

Dear Carver owners,

I am looking to buy a 3607/3807 model and arrange transport for it. I love the model and would be a great upgrade to my current 3007. The dimensions for transport are pretty critical however. I am looking for the height measurement as if the flybridge was removed. Is there an owner that can help me with finding these dimensions? I would be immensely grateful.

Cheer,

Michiel

Post 1989 Carver 3607 - Swim Platform

Hey All,

Just curious to see if there is an affordable solution to fixing my swim platform? The last owner did not fill holes that were previously drilled in it and now the platform has water inside of it. The wood seams rotten and I am sure it won't last much longer.

Can I fix this somehow or am I stuck with having to purchase a new one? I have been quoted $6000 for a new but basic fibreglass platform but feel that is too much money for us right now. I have a 1989 Carver 3607 so I am sure they ar ...
