Post 1994 350 Aft Cabin

Hello Everyone, purchased a 350 Aft but can't drive it home until spring. It's in a slip 5 hrs away by car, so can only guess what the height of the bow will be when beached? Looking at beach ladders that are bow mounted. But need info if someone has installed one. To me it looks like I will need between a 8 to 10 step unit?? We spend alot of time beached. Thanks Dennis

Post removing old 4" exhaust hose

Hi, hello.

I need to get at my Velvet Drive transmission and take it out to be rebuilt.

My 350 Crusaders are FWC, coolant and a heat exchanger each, instead of raw water in the engine block.
There are so many hoses in the way!

What's worse, the exhaust elbow, that does a 90 to to meet the other exhaust hose, is fiberglass.
I have the hose clamps off. The hose does not want to move. It's been baked and pressed on there for years.
Usually, I pry the hell out of the hose end to get it off the lip.

Post Port engine flywheel missing a tooth

Hello.

I just put my rebuilt starter back in, and it cranks but makes a nasty clicking noise.

Sure enough, the Gopro revealed that the flywheel is missing a tooth.

Any advice?

How bad is this? Would you run it that way? I'm thinking the starter will start breaking off the next tooth if I keep cranking. I'm looking to sell the boat eventually, so it would be way better to fix it now.

I'm hoping I can disconnect the flywheel housing, support the aft end of the engine, unlag the motor mounts from the s ...

Post Proper location for propane tank

Hello,

I have a 1986 Carver 4207. I am wondering where the proper location would be for the 20 pound propane tank. The previous owner has it under the cabinet on the back deck but it doesn't look proper.

Any suggestions and photos would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Post Transmission rebuild- 1994 Carver 300 Aft Cabin

Hi folks. I recently bought a 1994 Carver Aft Cabin on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

It has twin Crusader 350 engines, one of them counter rotating. They are freshwater cooled. Twin Borg Warner transmissions, but the literature doesn't say what model. Engines and transmissions are painted blue.

The seller told me the starboard transmission needs to be rebuilt. The shift handle moves freely to all three positions. It will only crank when the handle is at neutral, but the transmission is stuck in fo ...

Post Forward Head Issues

Hi! New to the group and really hoping I can find the help I need here.

We have a 440 and the fwd head has stopped working. I've rebuilt and then replaced the vacuum pump and it just runs for as long as I leave it on. No suction is developed in the toilet and nothing gets sucked down. There is water in the bowl, so it's not losing the vacuum there.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get at the vacuum tank and hoses, but they are buried under thw gallery counter top and behind the wall between the ...

Post Carver 444 Stern Thruster Picture

I have a 2001, Carver 444 and I am going to be adding bow and stern thrusters. Does anyone have pictures of their existing stern thruster either through the back hatch or on the hard. I am very confident that I know exactly where to install it but I wanted to see a picture of one already installed to double check.
Thanks

Post 1977 Carver 2896

Hello from Vancouver Washington. I’m strongly considering buying a 1977 2896. It’s been moored covered and seems solid. Im concerned about potential balsa core issues. It has original twin mercury 351 Windsor’s with Velvet V Drives with 700 hours. Meticulous maintenance records. The engines seem to run very well with one drive needing inspection. Any thoughts on this boat and the propulsion system? Looking for a local hull surveyor. Jim
