Post 2808 Original Props?

Hi all,

new to the Carver world and when my boat is full of fuel and water, cannot get it out of the water. Only if less heavy, trimmed down and WOT. I know this is not a cruiser but with that kind of hull, I expected a better range of cruising.

I am trying to find what was the provided prop on this model but I do not have the original build of material and it the manual, the 2808 is not listed. So I go from 18x21 (probably 3 blades at that time) for a 5.7 Merc to a 18x18 for the 305 Cruisader.

Post Sea star steering question

1986 Carver 4207 with Sea Star steering.

So over the weekend, I was in some pretty rough seas. The wind kept blowing me to port and turning me side on to the on coming waves. I would turn the steering wheel 2 to 3 turns to starboard in an attempt to hit the waves at a 45 dedree angle. I would not turn the wheel back to port. After 3 to minutes I would have to repeat this process. I continued to do this for the next hour and a half. It was like after a few minutes, the rudders would straighten bac ...

Post Solar panel project completed

I have solar on my house, and decided this winter to put it on the hardtop of my 390. I bought a 400Watt system from Renogy Solar. 4 100 watt panels and an MPPT 40Amp controller. I put 2 panels each in serial and then hooked into parallel This way if one bank goes down, then I will still have 1/2 system running. Elevator bolts were mounted to panels and then secured to the hardtop with 3M 4200. SOLID as ever. Used a hole saw (I needed a few drinks before drilling the hard top!) and made a 2” h ...

Post Hello

Bilgewater here. Long time boater, just purchased a 78 Carver Mariner 3396 in Macedon, NY. The wife and I have refurbished a 72 Gulfstar 36, (sold); a 74 Mainship 34 (sunk by Hurricane Florence in NC), and a 75 Chris Craft double cabin (totaled at Dunkirk NY marina by a late May northeaster). Third time a charm? We enjoy rehabbing older boats if they are sound to start with, and this Carver fits the bill. The main issue is window leakage, not surprising in a 43 year old boat. Asking th ...

Post New Vertrifrigo in our old 1987 3697

Of course, needed mods to make it fit. Had to space it out 1.125" with some Burmese teak ($150.00). Had to make some new cuts in the back wall which is the closet wall of the starboard bunk room. Added a vent at the bottom for air flow. Looks good with the other stainless upgrades.

Post Kohler 7.5R generator burns up impellers?

I have a 7.5R Kohler gasoline generator in my 88’, 3807. Last spring on first startup, I smelled rubber. Raw water impeller disintegrated. I’m talking dust. Changed it out and did great all season. Ran it maybe 10 hours for the whole season. Checked it this spring, looked great. Pliable and no cracks. Ran it 2 or 3 times, maybe an hour so far this season. Last run, I saw heavy steam coming out the exhaust after a couple of minutes of start up and smelled burning rubber again. Shut it down and e ...

Post 3607 Black Water Tank Replacement

Hello, we bought a 1989 3607 last fall. The previous owner needed to replace the black water tank. He removed the tank and when we bought it, the broker agreed to replace the tank for us. We still don't have the tank replaced and now are being told the black tank needs to be special ordered. Can anyone tell me where we could purchase a black water tank for the aft head for a 3607? I should also say our marina is extremely busy and extremely short-handed, so we are trying to be patient...but ...

Post Malber Washing Machine Needs to Be Replaced

Have a 56 Voyager, and our Malber washing machine no longer spins out all the water. Since the boat is a 2005, was looking to replace it. Can find replacements that fit the demensions of the Malber but not able to fit thru the stateroom door. Has anyone replaced a washer and or dryer on this boat and have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Post Intro and possibly important news

Hey all,

Thanks for the approve for membership here!

My fiancé and I are liveaboards on Lake Ontario for five years now on an 89 carver aft 3607 (Aqualibrium). Love the way of life and wish I’d discovered it years ago. Looking forward to learning and sharing more with those in same boat as we are!

That being said, I just yesterday ran into a seemingly rather important bit of news I’d think prudent to share with all. I just got this info from an alternate Carver group member who shared it with all. ...
