Post Ice Maker Outlet
- Posted by: 650Guy » May 27th, 2020, 1:02 pm
- Forum: Electrical
Hey All
So my 03 396's Ice Maker on the bridge stopped working.
Ice Maker checks good - Runs fine on another outlet
Breaker was just replaced
Still seems to have no power to the outlet.
does anyone know if there is a GFI that protects that outlet? Every other outlet on the boat seems to be operational. This one WAS working at the onset of the season, now, not so much. About to replace the outlet itself just to rule that out.
Thought this was going to be an easy one... HA, I'm so silly!

Post Low WOT rpm on Santego 3467
- Posted by: BarryK » May 26th, 2020, 11:27 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hi all,
I'm not getting full rpm at wide open throttle, both engines. I will troubleshoot but I want to make sure that the propeller size is in the ballpark,
1990 Santego 3467
454 Crusaders
Warner transmissions with 1:1 ratio
Walter V-drives RV-36 with 2.09 ratio
propellers 20x21, 3 blade
I'm seeing about 3500 rpm port and 3800 starboard. This is on the ocean at about 70 deg. air temp, calm seas.
I've only had the boat for a few months and have been going through everything. So much to check! I think it ...

Post Building a sofa for Carver 355
- Posted by: Sailor Jerry » May 26th, 2020, 5:43 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
As you know, the original Carver sleep sofa has to be moved for access to the port engine. That sofa was just too much for me to handle. I would have to partially disassemble it to move it when doing maintenance. Plus after 20 years it was showing some wear. I would have loved simply purchasing a sectional unit, but could not find one the right size. I decided to build a sectional. No, I have never built furniture before. I studied some sectionals online, example: As you know, the original Carver sleep sofa has to be moved for access to the port engine. That sofa was just too much for me to handle. Post Bridge Throttles Stiff with Throttle Creep
- Posted by: TheNatalina » May 26th, 2020, 11:10 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
The Bridge Throttles on my 1984 28-foot Voyager are stiff and will not hold RPM. When trying to set a Cruising RPM they creep downward. This condition is not repeated with the Cabin Throttles. I have twin Mercruisers and they are running beautifully, but the throttles are are wearing out my right arm. Thanks for any suggestions as I am new to this boat and can use all the help I can get!

Post Kohler 8E Generator Carver 370 1999
- Posted by: Mase » May 26th, 2020, 10:13 am
- Forum: Electrical
Wanted to post my information on how I solved a sqealing belt from a 8E Kohler generator.
We bought the 370 6 Months ago and when we ran the generator it sometimes would sqeal from a slipping belt and finally the belt broke a couple of weeks ago.
Reviewing several different posts on the internet it seems this Generator Kohler 8E has a service bulletin SB-609 which I never could find to read but there are several interpertations of it. It seems that the engine back spins when you shut in down cau ...

Post water flow

- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
We have a situation similar to the one Smoken recently posted. When on marina water we have good pressure & flow on all faucets & showers. When we switch to the ship system, there is a dribble at faucets & showers. We replaced the pump over the winter. Checked all faucets/shower heads for debris. All clean.
Thanx in advance.

Post 98 405 Port Engine Will Not Start
- Posted by: Serendipity » May 25th, 2020, 4:33 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hello guys,
So I finally get the boat out and stretched her legs yesterday. Running along at 3600 rpms at 20 mph actually heading back to the slip and my siren goes off? And both engines it appeared died, but maybe just the port size becauseithappened so fast. Regardless I shut both of them off.
Checking the gauges, starboard engine was fine and started back up, port had died and would not restart.
Oil levels were fine yesterday and today at the full mark. Engines temps were normal at 175-180 rang ...

Post Air conditioning

We have a 396 Carver MY with 3 AC units...had the AC winterized by the marina as we are not very mechanically inclined...The aft AC seems to be working but the AC in the salon comes on but water flow is not great...We get an error message HPF and then water flow stops..Could this be due to strainer needing cleaning...I think there is only one sea cock for all 3 units ..not sure if they do something when they winterize that we need to undo??

Post Seawolf 520

- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
Does anyone know the wiring diagram for a Seawolf 520. I have replaced the foot switch, and the motor is in good condition, but the motor doesn't run continually, suggesting something wrong with the solenoid or wiring system. I need to better understand the wiring on this unit.
