Post New Member: 73’ Carver Camper in Oregon

Hello all,

I’ve lurked around for awhile, but decided to take the plunge and join.

We bought a 1973 Carver Camper back in February and have spent the last few months tinkering on it and waiting for ramps to reopen.

Planning to get it on the water in a couple weeks, expect some posts from me as I verify that I’ve covered all my bases.

We’ll be mooring it down on a coastal bay here and just using it in the bay for now - two small kids. It’s been an awesome family boat so far... parked in my drivewa ...

Post Hello Carver Owners

Hello,

Well, after several surveys and about a year and a half we have purchased a beautiful 1996 370 Voyager. We love the boat for the two of us. We are from Portland OR and will be mostly cruising the rivers. My wife S finally happy after a few disappointments with Bayliner and a coupl Carver Aft Cabins.

Thanks for all the information on the site, I have used it over the past 2 years.

Happy Boating,

Pat and Michelle.

Post Summer boat storage, tarp or no tarp

I have never stored a boat on the hard for the summer season when it is hot up here in Ontario. Right now it has a vented canvas type fitted tarp on it. Wondering what the best course of action is, leave the tarp up or take it down for the summer and put back up in the fall. The last few days has been quite hot under the tarp....salon ok but bridge hot.

The question for those of you that have stored on the hard in more southern areas where it gets hot longer thru the year....how/best way, to d ...

Post A/C Compressor

Good Day All,

1997 Voyager 320.

Our A/C had been consistently tripping out. Had a tech in to troubleshoot, diagnosed a seized compressor.
He indicated this is a hermetically sealed unit and the only option is to replace.
Has anyone on here had the same issue? What was the correction, repair/replace?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thks

Post 22 X 22RH 1-3/8" Prop

My starboard drive shaft sheared off. Insurance says it was a mechanical failure so they aren't covering it even though I clearly hit something. I am finally moving forward with the repair but am trying to find a prop that isn't $1700. Any idea where I could find a used or reconditioned prop?

Thanks,
Alan

Post Genset Puzzle

Hey folks. Here is one for the experts.

I have a 2005 vintage Kohler 7.3 generator. Its a well maintained unit, new impellers every year, new carb 2 seasons ago. Heat exchanger boiled out with new carb installation. It was running great until.... it stopped running great.

The issue that I have is when at the dock or idling about she runs great. With a full load, its smooth sailing. Sometimes 'searches' a bit if the compressor on one of the a/c units turns off, but that seems par for the cour ...

Post Model Year comparison

I'm considering putting SeaDek flooring on the swim platform and flybridge steps on a 2000 Carver 350 Mariner. SeaDek informed me they have a template for a 2002 350 Mariner. I'm wondering if there was any changes between these two model years.

Post Carver 530 Bow Thruster Issues

Hey everyone my boat was moved recently for the marina to make some repairs to the pylons. When they moved it back they rode my bow thruster way too much for some reason and it stopped working! (I know this because unbeknownst to them I happened to be listening in on my security system).

So I just got back to my boat and was testing it and I can hear the motor running when I use it but the thruster isn’t thrusting?

Any ideas on where to start troubling shooting or fixing it?

Thanks for any advise!
