Post Looking for a new AC unit... what brand would you go with?

Good morning, everyone,

Hope y'all are having a great start to the week.

I'm currently in the market for a new 16,000 BTU self-contained A/C unit. Wondering what brands would you guys say are the best performing at this time?

I've always had dometic up until now, but have been hearing good things about webasto lately, and previous experiences with Dometic's customer support left me a little less than excited about getting another one of their units.

If you are familiar with webasto, what unit would ...

Post Looking to buy on the Chesapeake Bay

Hey everyone.

First time boat buyer here - looking for something to live on a few days a week.

I like the Carver Mariner 32 with a dedicated shower stall - open to other options too. Ideally would like little to no engine work, but happy to do any TLC on the inside. Looking to move pretty fast :) Something under $25k I can pay lump sum!

Post Electrical leak from refrigerator

Last summer, I was getting a prop changed via a diver. I cut the shore power off. He noticed a slight electrical current coming off the rudder. I have my outlets running through a Promariner ps2000 inverter charger. The inverter was on, though the only thing running was the fridge. I realized I hadn’t cut the inverter off. Once I cut it off, the current stopped.

I have been concerned about the leak, since reading on here and elsewhere about the danger of Electric Shock Drowning (ESD). I called t ...

Post Bridge Height

Does anyone know the bridge height or waterline height of a 98 355 aft with radar and arch? We just bought one in another state and need to get a slip here at a local marina. Thanks for any and all help.

Post Hello Everyone

I don't own a Carver, or any boat for that matter. I'm a potential future owner, shopping for information at this point, and this forum looks like a great resource.

I live in Wyoming so there aren't many waterways that most Carvers would be a good fit in. My wife and I are looking at a mid 80's Carver 3607 as a potential loop vessel. We're about 8 years away from retirement and the loop is one of the things we're planning on doing. We've done a lot of camping in a small A frame pop up so a 36 ...

Post Any advice on purchasing 55' Californian CYM

I am in the process of buying a 1989 Californian 55 CMY with Detroit 6-92's in the NW. The survey is this Friday. Anything in particular to pay attention to on those boats? Thanks.

Post It was cold, but not that cold!

This winter I dropped a USB temp probe on my engine to see what the temps would be like over the winter. It sampled temp a little over an hour for each one and I recorded it from last October till today. This is with the boat sitting outside with shinkwrap and the monitor was just placed on the intake manifold.

Here's what it looks like:

Post New owner in Oxnard, CA!

Hi Everyone!

My wife Sue and I are new owners of a 1990 Santego 3467. The boat is in Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, CA. We hope to explore the many anchorages of the Channel Islands.

We love the boat!

In the meantime we have a lot of items on the to do list to get the boat offshore-ready and I will be asking advice.

Thank you in advance!

Barry
