Post Exhaust flapper valve replacement, 1990 Santego 3467
- Posted by: BarryK » February 9th, 2020, 2:36 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hi all,
The exhaust flapper valve on my starboard Crusader 454 is very noisy. It is inside the exhaust system somewhere, it is not on the exterior of the hull. Is it possible to replace this? Or is the clicking noise normal?
This engine is a Gen 5 454. The original Mark 4 was replaced under warranty early in the life of the boat. I'm not sure if the exhaust was modified or not.
My port engine had a top end overhaul a couple of years ago according to the prior owner. The mechanic changed the exhaus ...

Post Wiring Voyager cams to MFD
- Posted by: golgi » February 9th, 2020, 10:21 am

Have any Voyager owners taken the original Voyager-brand engine room and cockpit cameras and wired into the Furuno NavNet VX2? A few questions... Are the existing cameras only black and white or is it just the old CRT monitor? Is adding the video card to the VX2 straightforward? Can you add two cards to one MFD? Mine is a 2001 530. Thanks!

Post Endurance Marine Horizontal Windlass
- Posted by: Dusty Bilges » February 8th, 2020, 3:01 pm
- Forum: The Project Center
I am considering the purchase of an Endurance Marine horizontal anchor windlass (WCH2000 or WCH1000). ( I know everyone thinks I should get a Maxwell or one that takes both line and chain, but that is not going to happen.) Reason for the interest in Endurance winches is because of some scary reviews of the Powerwinch horizontal windlasses - which I will reconsider if someone has something nice to say about them.
Anyone have any experience with those windlasses (or hearsay or rumors)?
Question num ...

New guy here with a few questions about this boat. What are the pros and cons of hardtop vs canvas top?
Is it cored below the waterline? Is it likely to have wet stringers or deck? Thanks

Post QL Bow Thruster

I have been researching stern thrusters for my boat, because I hate the winter and want to think about all things boat. I think you can all relate.
I contacted and have been dealing with a rep at IMTRA a distributor for Side Power Thrusters, which is what I normally see on most Carvers. I am sure there are many reputable manufacturers out there, but this is the one I contacted to figure out what would be needed on my boat.
I supplied him with the make/model of the boat I have and his first quest ...

Hello all, as a new owner of a 350 Mariner I figured it fitting to join this family. Lots of other Carver owners in my marina have come and introduced themselves since they saw the new arrival. Seems like a bunch of good people. I look forward to talking and exchanging knowledge with the group. Thanks for having me.

Post Exhaust Riser replacement Port side 2004 360 sedan
- Posted by: Homelite » February 3rd, 2020, 10:58 pm
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
Hello,
Just fishing here for some info on performing the following on the port engine. I have Crusader 8/1's. I did the starboard last week. Now the hard side. I'm thinking I need to pull the refrigerator and then cut the floor to be able to remove the port outer exhaust riser. I figured maybe someone has done this on this model and could shed some light! it does not look like it will be fun.
As a side note, I learned the mufflers are not that strong. I broke the starboard one while trying ...

Post Beginning Of Season Near
- Posted by: RGrew176 » February 3rd, 2020, 1:57 am
- Forum: Boating & Cruising Lifesyle
It's time, especially for us in the north country to think about the beginning of the season. So now we have a thread for that. Last year I predicted when I would launch. I initially, last year, hoped for an April 3rd launch. Didn't make it, but did launch May 3rd. Last year spring came late here.
This year no predictions as to my Carver launch date. I do know though when I will take possession of my new Yamaha PWC. I have scheduled my delivery date for May 15th. Hope to have a fun summer with my ...

Hello Captains,
Just joining the group and excited to learn and grow my Carver knowledge. I'll be retiring in just over 2 years and my wife and I are currently looking for our liveaboard boat. We have owned a couple sail boats and one power over the last 20 years and are currently boatless. We would like to purchase soon so we can get everything ship shape in the next 2 summers for our next planned adventure, i.e. the Great American Loop. We rent now and are simplifying our lives in preparation o ...

Post Ceiling leather patch?
- Posted by: Pete » February 2nd, 2020, 1:39 am

I found a spot on the "leather" ceiling that looks like it might have been patched...it was kind of gummy and somewhat sticky. When I touched it, it got worse. Anyone familiar with what this is? Thx.
