Post New Carver 4227 Cockpit Motor Yacht owner

Hi,
Greetings from St. Louis, Missouri. I am proud new owner 1987 Carver 4227. My understanding that there were only 13 made! It's sister-model 4207 is more common I hear. The boat is a bit of work and I am sure I will be asking questions on this forum soon... :captain2:

Cheers,
Pekka

Post Patching Gelcoat

1994 320 Voyager owner. Chipped my swim platform about the size of a silver dollar. Would like to repair before winter. Local repair shop has recommended patch Paste by Spectrum. Does anyone have experience with this product and if so what color should i use to match my boat. I am a new Carver owner and monitor this website constantly for insights. Thanks.

Post Trailer Length for 1994 Carver 280 Express

New to the forum and I apologize if this has been asked and answered in another thread, I couldn't find it if it has. I bought a 1994 Carver 280 express a couple months back and piloted it to my mooring from Plymouth, MA about 50 miles away, it is on the mooring now. I am looking at purchasing a new trailer for it but the manufacturer of the trailer measures from bow eye to drain plug for boat to trailer fit. With mine still in the water does anyone out there know the length from bow eye to drai ...

Post Rotella T4 15w 40

Did my oil changes and all the filters on both engines and generator today. I always used Rotella T4 in my previous gas engines, the SeaDoo and even my summer ragtop. Needless to say I use a lot as the boat alone requires about 12 gallons. They have 5g pails of T4 at Walmart for $57 and some change CDN. Probably the cheapest I have ever seen it as of late. Bought 3 more pails for next years oil change. :-D Not sure if this is provincial or Canada wide.

Oddly enough everything in the states when ...

Post 1977 Santa Cruz Window Seals

Does any know what kind of window seals they used back then? I've looked all over the internet and can't match it. They are really tough rubber in a P shape and go between the teak frame and the glass. I've attached a picture of the profile of the gasket. Really appreciate any help!

Post Small 300 to 700 watt pure sine wave inverters

Next year I would like to power up a 32" lcd hd tv and a blue ray player with a wired in from the panel inverter. I found a Zantrex 300w in the boat and tried it, but it just alarmed and failed....so that went in the garbage. Before I loaded it the fan was running and making more noise than I would like.

My question, do all of these inverters in that range have noisy fans when not loaded up. I don't think the tv or the blue ray pulls much power, but I will calculate that later.

From the search ...

Post Prop Shaft Coupling Removal

I’m looking for advice on removing the shaft couplings on a 2002 366 Aft Cabin. I need to remove the couplings to replace the shaft seals. The boat has 6.2L Mercrusier engines. I have removed couplings on other boats in the past but they all had set screws, there are no set screws on the couplings so I’m wondering what holds the couplings to the shafts.

Thanks,
Simon

Post Fresh water pump

I thought I would share this with you. My fresh water pump (Sure flow pump) was coming on for a moment then shut off, my first thought was I have a leak in the system. I spent several hours looking for a leak no leak found. I didn’t like listening to the pump run so I turned the pump off and ran shore water pressure, the next day I had water coming out of the fresh water tank vent. I scratched my head for a few and realized there’s only 1 check valve in the system ( hot water tank cold water inl ...
