Post Auxiliary Fuel Tank

- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I just purchased a 2001 Carver 404 CPMY with gas engines and after the boat sat for 2 weeks, we noticed a strong smell of gasoline in the aft stateroom. Upon further inspection, the bilges were dry and the engine room did not smell. The next time I fueled, I tried filling the auxiliary tank (which is located between the aft stateroom and the transom below the cockpit) and lifted the hatch to see what was up. As i fueled, I saw gasoline dripping from the bottom of the tank. It would appear that t ...

- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Ok another challenge for my Carver Yacht owners. I have a kick out window in my aft cabin of my 1992 330. I would like to replace the outside rubber window seal due to the sun shrinking the seal. Yes I have contacted Carver and Taylormade, no luck I have searched the web and can’t find a replacement. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has experienced this so, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike I can’t believe I’ve had no response I’m still looking for a seal

EDIT: I screwed up on the poll title. Should have been .Do you use aftermarket parts.
Just curious regarding aftermarket parts. Sometimes the original parts are so overpriced or difficult to find or simply backordered and therefor many go with aftermarket. There are brands like Sierra that specialize in this and seem to be trusted by many. I myself tend to go aftermarket on many items such as filters and lubrication. Have bought quite a few aftermarket impellers a ...

Post Add engine access panels to floor

Have a 2006 Voyager 46 GS with Volvo D9-500s. Volvo user manual shows the 24 valve/rocker arms required adjustment at 1,000 hrs. There is not enough clearance to remove the valve train cover as the solon floor is too close to the D9's. I have read that all Volvo D series have hydraulic lifters like all car engines and why would one complete this adjustment as the hydraulic lifters adjust for any slack. If this adjustment is truly needed the solon carpet, floor and several aluminum frames wil ...

Post 396 Innerspring mattress

- Forum: Boat Parts For Sale
2004 Carver 396 master cabin innerspring mattress. Excellent shape (IMO) but Admiral wants a new one. Since there are no vertical restrictions on the 396 you could add this to an existing mattress for additional support and comfort which is exactly what I would have done if I could have found one. $150

Post removing cabinet above sink - 1977 Mariner 33ft
- Posted by: WildfireJewel » April 27th, 2019, 9:38 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I'm new here and did a search but can't seem to find an answer. We have a 33ft 1977 Mariner we are slowly refurbishing (leaky windows of course). Is the cabinet with the metal support under it that is above the sink a structural support at all? We want to remove it permanently but I am concerned it may be providing structural support to the upper fly bridge. Anyone know? TYIA! Melissa and Scott

Post Need 2006 Voyager cherry trim molding
- Posted by: Viking-boater » April 27th, 2019, 5:03 pm
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I have a 2006 Voyager 46 GS ( no lower pilot house ) and need to find the cherry wood trim / molding used in the boat. I am completing a remodel of the starboard side state room. Looking for about 4 ft of the trim to complete a added storage unit next to the new bed. It is the same trim found just below the 2 windows in the Stb stateroom and many other areas of the yacht. Any help ?

Post Drilling thru a thick swim platform
- Posted by: spsu00 » April 27th, 2019, 7:57 am
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
We bought the Hurley H3O David system to install on our Carver 410. We are having to use the Davit extension and it requires "8"
Holes be drilled they the swim platform for the bolts. The swim platform on our boat where we need to drill is almost 10" thick. Does anyone know if this swim platform is hollow core ? Is there anything I should look for before I start drilling or any advice on drilling?
