Post Isolation valves for winterizing

I was having trouble with some leaky fittings and over pressure valve on my hot water heater last season so I plumbed in an isolation set up in order to work on it when I had time. Winterizing the water systems on the boat this year was a bit of a pain. I know some people put winterizing valves on their fresh water systems to bypass the tank when running anti freeze through the system. Do any of you have a set up like this for your ac or head? I’m definitely adding one to the fresh water system ...

Post Carver Wood Stain

Greetings,

I have a 2005 Carver 36. I pulled out the TV in the Salon and in its place I put the electronics for my solar panels. I would like to build a door similar to the 120 and 12V panels doors on the same piece but I have not found the particular shade of stain Carver used. Does anyone know the name? Thanks!

Post Bilge pump switch lights always on?

Howdy all! Just bought a 2004 366 ac and working through so many WTF items but this one has me and my surveyor stumped. As you see in the first pic, at the helm, the bilge pump lights are on all the time. Pumps work and can be activated by the same switches, just the lights are always on. Previous owner said they’ve been that way for 9 years…maybe but I have to think the bulbs would have burned out a long time ago if so. Second pic shows all the lights with the dimmer up. No change with the swi ...

Post Hoping for some help, I have just installed new risers and spacers on my 1997 320 with twin crusaders.

After I completed installation I realized that they are approximately 3/4" higher and my engine compartment lids are sitting on them. Has anyone seen this issue before and is it possible to lower the power unit?

Post On-board Fire Suppression Update Options

I recently bought a 2014 Carver C40 with an outdated/discharged on-board fire suppression system (no fire, so it either had a leak or discharged). The previous owner never addressed it but since this is a safetly issue, I would like to get this fixed. It is my understanding that the current system is Halon and is not serviceable and the tank must be replaced. Is looking at options, there are MANY different options. Anyone know what the appropriate size system would be? Any suggestions?

Post Gratuity on Marine Services - Carpet cleaning

I am curious as I got hit with a request for a tip today that has not happened in 22 years of boating. I am interested in other people's opinion on this topic. I hired this company for the first time (a professional company boat washing waxing, carpet cleaning etc.) to clean my carpets on my boat, in my slip. I was told it was a minimum fee for a 42' Carver 406 Yacht of $352.00 and a $10 dollar credit card fee. I paid a 25% deposit as requested prior to service which I had no issue with and the ...

Post Replacement window slides

I'm in the process of rebuilding our 1979 Carver, and currently I'm working on the window frames. I've got the frames off the boat and am planning on sandblasting them and having them powdercoated. The problem I'm having is sourcing the plastic glides that go in the bottom of the window channel. It's a round bead, approximately 3/16" diameter, with a fin that snaps into the aluminum frame to hold it in place. Does anyone know the correct name for these, or where they might be available for p ...
