Post Crusader 5.7 TBI Specs

Hi All

I have a "new to me" 97 350 Mariner with 1996 (according to the serial #s) 5.7 XL TBI Crusaders with closed cooling. The good news is both engines run great. The bad news is I cannot find any info/specs on these engines. I know they "probably" use 15W40 engine oil and "probably" hold about 5 1/5 litres of oil. I'm not even sure of the HP rating ~270? Cooling system capacity? I have a copy of the parts manual but that doesn't list the specs I'm looking for.

Thx in advance. Any help would be ...

Post Genny Died

Well, I did it again. Last time we were out, I made the comment about how well the genny had been running all summer. This week.... yup.

A solid no start condition. Cranks, but does not fire. No cough, no attempt at start, nada, nothing. Simply spins at a normal sound that it always had. (I've already pulled the drain plug on the water lift muffler so that I will not waterlock it while trouble shooting)

The patient, a 7.3 Kohler carb genny.

Oil full.

Coolant full

Port fuel tank at 3/4 (genny dr ...

Post Telephone Jack to USB Conversion

Those outdated telephone jacks can easily be converted by using one of these if you have decora style plugs on board that is. In my case it is a simple swap except I obviously need to supply the new unit with 12v dc. Thought this might interest others. https://www.amazon.com/Magnadyne-Black- ... 490&sr=8-1

Post Photo Wallpaper?

My wife has these what I always think are weird ideas. Problem is she is right 99% of the time . :-D Anyhow, she took a picture of our wake some time ago which she had transferred to wall paper. Ended up putting it over the mirror door that opens to the chain locker in the forward berth. Came out really nice.

Post AC Unit fault

Carver 444 2001.

My Marine Air AC is doing some weird things. An AC repair guy replace the control unit and it seemed to work ok for a week or so. When I select it on it shows correct cabin temp and the AC unit cones on and starts cooling, then after a minute or so the indictated cabin temp starts fluctuating to lower numbers like 80 then 76, 73, 67. I selected 65 degrees to keep the unit runing as the indicated temp fluctuates up and down but eventually I get a HPF fault.

I swapped the ...

Post New member from Ontario

Hello,
We are moving from sail to power and looking to forward to spending weekends cruising Trent Severn waterway and Georgian Bay area next season with my wife . We are looking to purchase a Carver 3207 around 1983-1984 this year possibly. Some advertised in the Ontario area that we are interested in have around 1200 -1500 hours.
Any advice on any areas that should be of concern when we go to view these.
Great forum, a lot of input and very useful advice.
Thanks.

Post 80s 3697 Generator Location

Can anyone tell me where the original location is/was for the generator for a Carver Mariner? I'm looking at a boat, that I'm told didn't come with one originally, so I'm looking for info and cost to add one.

Thanks in advance!

Post Aft cabin HVAC project

My boat (83 3607) did not come with any HVAC. I've used a portable for a couple years in the salon and it does pretty good, but a friend of mine gave me a nice unit when the controls failed and he had to replace it. I bypassed the circuit board and turned it into a older manual style without the fancy controls. It'll do heat or cool and I have a thermostat for both. Right now the fan is either 100% on or it's off... someday I'll put a variable control on it.

First part was to drill some hol ...

Post Newbie

Hi all. Thanks for accepting me to the forum. We have a 97 350 Mariner purchased in Plattsburg NY last fall and brought to The St Lawrence River (Prescott) in June. 5 1/2 day shake down cruise that went great. Everything worked. First boat with A/C and a bow thruster and I will never be without either again.
