Hello everyone! I'm new here and excited to tackle some projects this winter. Finally got my engine (mercruiser 454) all set up and Working (mostly) well. Pretty nice running machine for the most part.

Does anyone have experience with replacing deck vinyl?Looks like the best bet is to take off the entire cabin top. Love to hear about people's experiences w that. Not sure I want to open that can of worms without plenty of time and input.

I have a 1984 Carver 2687 Monterey that I have been restoring. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the fuel tank thru the deck hatch without cutting into the deck? It doesn't leak as far as I know, but it is 33 years old aluminum tank and I really don't want to take the chance of it starting to leak after I get my project finished.

Hi I have a dead alternator on my mercruiser 470 question is do I replace it with the same 12v 85 amp alternator or should I take this opportunity to find one with higher amps. Is there any benefits to increasing amp output. Also I am considering replacing my batteries how many cca is suggested for the mercruiser 470. Thanks
