Post New guy

Greetings all,

My wife and I recently bought a Carver 1998 380 Santego that had been in storage for 5 years. We are coming out of a 2003 Sea Ray 280 Sundancer (for sale) so there is a little bit of a difference. We splashed the new boat (Wanderlust) on Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. Our lake is approx. 168 miles long and stretches from Pick City/Riverdale to Williston ND with over 600 miles of shoreline. The deepest spot is along the face of the Garrison Dam (which created the lake) and usual ...

Post Small boat and Titanic same problem!

For those that have seen my post called "small boat big big project", my first shake down cruise last year was a success, but not without exposing problems and items that just need updates or modifications. I have to address list items before my second shakedown cruise this year, at this point I have 25 line items to address, some items are simple such as adding a small table/shelf close to lower helm so I can reach my coffee or binoculars without stretching to my reach limit, the item I am w ...

Post Waste tank monitor

The past 3 years both front and rear holding tank monitors worked as designed. This year both are malfunctioning. The front unit lights green when empty, goes to amber and won't go beyond to red when full. This leads to an embarrasing situation on the dock if someone flushes that "one too many flush". The rear unit lights green when empty, doesn't light amber, but will light red when full. Seems to me there's a float problem in the front unit and a sensor problem in the rear. I've never had the ...

Post Carver Mariner 350 TV Antenna Wire Problem

I'm looking for some more information on Carver Mariner 350 (2nd generation 1997-2003) TV Antenna Wire routing. I have several coax wires that come out of where the TV is in the main salon. One wire runs to the bedroom tv, One runs to the Antenna on the Arch, and One Runs to the transom for shore hookup.

I've separated all the wires and removed the splitter and a/b switch. I put a coax cable tester on my the wires to try to identify where they go. I was able to identify the wire that runs to the ...

Hi, Looking to buy one of the smaller hatch covers for the forward deck of a 1985 3607. Believe that years either side of 1985 had the same hatch covers. Thanks.

Post Engine Steam

On our way to Pleasant Harbor, Wa I decided to take some temps while under way as I noticed steam about 15 to 20 feet behind exhaust. Not really abnormal for my boat but I wanted to see what was going on.

Here is what I found:

Starboard Engine at neck\temp sensor was 168 while running at 18rpm. While running at 36rpm, it read 177. The thermostat on the heat Exchanger is set to 170. The thermostat was 165 at 18rpm and 189 at 36rpm.

The exhaust riser on left was 104 and the right was 95. Not sure w ...

Post Plumbing in 2000 374 Voyager.

I need to replace some fittings in the red and blue pex lines going to my sinks. Lots of leaks on a boat that sat for a few years. Regular 1/2 in fittings seem too big (shark bite and such). Any suggestions?

Post all batteries dead

Hello All . My daughter is the proud owner of a 1983 aft 3207..twins..I am helping her get things up to speed. The fresh water pump has failed and I am thinking of replacing it with a Shur Flo 4008 -101 - E65. The failed one is a Shur Flo 2.8 gal 4 amp. Should I expect any problems..? We also have a Battery charging issue. There are 4 24ms class batteries . 2 are labelled as start. One will charge off the on board charger but drains quickly to .3 volts dc. Obviously defective. When running the ...

Post 1999 350 Rear cockpit door cushion pad

Does anyone know how to remove the cushion pad from the top of the rear cockpit door that leads to the swim platform? I cannot figure it out. Took the door off the hinges and looked up through the cavity and there are no screws or anchors visible. We got all the other 4 off with no problems but cannot get the one on the door off. Any advise or recommendations would be welcome.
