Post Xintex CO Detector Replacement

Looks like Xintex has finally made some significant changes the their CO detector. Very low 4ma draw and 7 year life span among other things. Direct replacement including same mounting holes as the old. I am severely overdue in my replacement which should happen every 5 years with the older model. http://www.fireboy-xintex.com/marine-ca ... or-cmd5-m/

Post Battery Configuration on 1994 390 CPMY

After working the bugs out last season, this season will see a new and improved battery bank. The stock bank is Batt 1- Starting/house, Batt 2- starting/house, Battery 3 genny.

I am going to try and get a set of 6V GC batteries set in place by using a group 24 starting battery for position 1 on the selector switch. I would use this battery exclusively for stating each of my thirsty big blocks. I will then remove the #2 battery and place the GC batteries in that space by turning them sideways. Tha ...

Post My First Boat

Hello! Just bought my first boat. So excited about my 2001 35 Mariner. Curious, has anyone replaced the flybridge ice maker with a fridge? Which one did you use?

Thanks!
Christine

Post Port Engine runs hot on plane

Hello all,

I'm having an issue with my port engine. I'm running out of options tracking down the root cause of the high temp.

While at idle and up to about 2000ish rpm's the engine will run and stay cool. but start opening up the throttles headed up to cruising speed, as the rpm's increase so does the temp. It gets to about 190, at that point I pull back the gas back to the 2k range and the gauge comes back down to normal levels.

So here is what I have done thus far to correct the issue and I'm ru ...

Post Just got my first boat!

Hello,
I just purchased my first boat, a 1989 Carver 27' Montego. The guy I bought it from is a real good guy, and can drive it well, but just wasn't much of an instructor so I'm gonna have to get some lessons. Any suggestions for the South Haven, MI area?
Thanks,
Jack

Post Fuel vent plugged. Carver 444

I have a problem putting fuel in my left main tank. It gushes out after a few gallons added. I have tried applying air pressure to tank fill with compressor to clear vent of bugs etc but it will not clear. The vent line is not accesable from below. You can see it go from top of tank outboard and down. Any ideas how I could remedy this situation without a major repair bill of pulling floor up and tank out?

Post We're New!

We are buying a 1986 Carver Mariner 32'. We'll be bringing her from St Petersburg (technically Gulfport) FL to the Anclote River in Tarpon Springs FL soon. The southern end of the route is unfamiliar to us, and we don't know whether to take the channel up towards Johns Pass or go down, around and out to open water and head north. Any comments are welcome.
Hmmmm, maybe I should post this in another topic?
