Post Blown motor IH 9.0

In a rush to get out of the Marina, a head of Hurricane Matthew, and into our Hurricane hole, the raw water inlet for the port motor was not opened and the motor seems to be cratered. Locked up, oily water in the bilge. The mains are mid 1980's 9.0 International Harvesters. Not sure where to go from here. scrap the boat. Try to find someone to attempt to rebuild the motor? Look for another one? New motors? Any ideas?

Post Thinking about a carver

HI:

I am looking to move up from a 25ft Crownline. There is a couple of Carvers for sale in my area (Lake Lanier, Ga). All Mid 80"s boats. A 1985 3227. New engines with 75 hours on them. Boat looks very nice. Another one is a 1987 2827.

Can you tell me of any common problems with these boats that I should look for or steer clear of.

Thanks

Bruce J. Scheck

Post Bus bars

One of my projects for next year is to clean up the mass of negative cables in my engine compartment. Currently, my 3 battery bank negative cables are jumpered together. It works, but it is messy. I think my solution is to introduce a negative bus bar, connect all the batteries to it, and, connect the bus bar to one of the engines. My current configuration is:

Battery 1 - Group 31 12v.

Battery 2 - 4 6v Trojan T105 in a series parallel setup.

Battery 3 - Group 31 12v Starting battery for the gen ...

Post Surviving Hurricane Matthew!

Hi all, we all know Carvers are well built and my 405 was no exception. She took the full brunt of Matthew and survived the storm. I am not back in the area yet due to the damage left behind but will post more after I get see her in person. I have attached a you tube link from my neighbor Manny that he posted today. In the video to the right of Manning's sailboat "Viking", is a blue trawler. To the right of that trawler is our Carver "Change in Latitude". The dock broke two slips seaward from u ...

Post electrical distribution panels

While looking at different models before we got the 350, I noticed that the older Santego panels and some others had indicator lights to tell you when a circuit was in use. This is something that I think is a great feature for just glancing at the panel to see what you have turned on......so to the question , has anyone retrofitted something like this, is it even possible without getting a whole new panel ?? :help:

Post Bilge paint

Good afternoon Carver folks!

Any thoughts or recommendations as to brand of bilge paint to use? Also, would one suggest applying with brush, roller or both? Looking to do a little tidy up.
