Post Batteries Won't Charge with Battery Charger

I had to replace all three batteries on my 405. Now Battery 1 and Battery 2 will not charge using the Battery Charger, either off of Shore Power or Generator Power. I think the Generator battery is charging, but since it carries none of the house load, I'm not really sure. As part of another problem (see "Battery Blowup" in this section) I tested the volts out of the charger per the tech support people guidance, but whenever I leave the boat sitting with anything on and the Battery Charger on ...

Post U-Line ice makers not making ice

My Carver 3807 has 2 U-Line ice makers on board 1 in the salon and 1 in the cockpit. Both power up and get cold but no water flows to make ice. The water line to the units does supply water to the inlet valve but the unit does not allow water past this point, is the inlet valve the problem? It just seems odd to me that the exact problem is happening to both units. Any help would be much appreciated.

Post Weaver stainless steel swim platform brackets

I may have a set of these for sale. One is a 2-inch drop bracket [not shown in photo], and one is a 4-inch drop bracket, [exactly as shown in the photo].

The photo shows the 4 inch drop only, as illustration.

I'm located in Oshawa or Brechin, Lagoon City.

These are like new condition, are very tough units. Open to offers, but I paid in excess of 200 each new.

Post Hey - Keep Your Cool Man!

Here's a great little morning project that helps your AC/Heat unit running efficiently. Wash the filters. I recall a friend who complained that his AC wouldn't blow very cold. We found his filters clogged with dust.

I love how Carver put the primary air return filter grill on a hinge for easy access.

Take out the metallic mesh filter and wash in hot soapy water.

Next, locate your AC unit. Mine is under a salon seat. There is a light plastic mesh filter directly against the unit, which easily sli ...

Post How do I check deisel fuel quality in the tanks

Brought our 2005 Carver 41CMY from Whitby to Simcoe, had trouble with bad fuel. I'm not sure if I bought bad fuel or the fuel left in the tanks went bad over the winter, anyhow we made it to Birch point Marina and Kevin was very helpful and changed filters, cleaned water separators and gave us clean fuel in my auxillary tanks to make it to Starport. I have the 2 main tanks full of fuel and don't want to dump it. How can I test this fuel before I switch to these tanks?

Post Leaking Water Regulator Inlet - Is Your Bilge Wet?

Sometimes, it's a good idea to pop your hatches and just look around down there. Here's an annoying water line drip that made my bilge wet.

With the shore water hose hooked up and turned on, we have pressurized fresh water at the slip. But quietly, there was an unseen drip from behind the water regulator - you know, the thing that you screw your shore water hose to. It looks like this:

Behind this regulator, the fresh water inlet ...

Post Make Your Generator Happy

I had a perfectly good running Kohler 4KW genny on my previous boat. Why did it run so well? Regular oil and filter changes, and change the sparkplugs and impeller every couple seasons. It never let me down.

We purchased our Carver last fall, with a Kohler 7KW genny, and it ran awful. Well, it would run at idle without load, but once load was applied, such as coffee maker, water heater, or A/C, it would shudder and almost stall. The first run, it had smoky exhaust. It only has 90 hours on ...
