Raritan salt water, convert to fresh water?
I had heard that converting to fresh water would take away most of the smell and actually be better for the system. I also heard it's not very hard to do. Does anyone know about this?

I converted the forward head to freshwater last spring. The main reason was a clogged head drain line from "dehydrated" seawater and mineral deposits.
I ran a line from the water tank to the area near the seawater intake for the head. I used a t to make sure I could convert back to seawater if the water tank ever ran dry. Rememeber to use a check valve to keep seawater out of the water tank and that you need to tap into the freshwater suppy BEFORE the water pump (I dont think you would want to use pressurized water).
This makes pumping out better (less rotten seawater in the tanks). It also makes cleaning the head easier.
