Washer/Dryer Removal

Postby wsp2 » August 26th, 2024, 4:01 pm

We're wanting to remove the washer/dryer combo unit from our 1995 Carver 440 aft cabin. It looks like it's walled in there pretty good though. Has anyone found a good way to remove this?

When looking at it from the front there's a lower panel which is screwed in with about 20 screws on the inside. There are two metal angle brackets with a bunch of screws, but I can't get my arm in there to remove more than the top couple of screws.

Friend of mine thinks there might be some screws underneath the trim on the outside which might hold on the whole front assembly. Our concern there is that it's flush against the ceiling so might be tough to take out without damaging the vinyl ceiling at the top.

Any recommendations on getting this out would be great.

Thanks!

Can"t give you anything specific. We had our combination washer/dryer go south. We replaced it with a ventless washer/dryer from GE. Our unit is located next to the stairs going to the aft stateroom. Removal as well as installation required that the stair railing be removed as well as the doors covering the unit. These things are HEAVY and will require a lease two persons to move them. Do not forget ti turn the water to the boat off before you start. Our washer did not have shutoff valves on the water feed. This no matter how you do it is a miserable job, good luck.
