I have done the search and thanks to Lyndon for the info, I just want to do the bulbs this year.Does anyone have some experience ( part number ,manufacturer) for the inside ceiling lights......We have 12 or fourteen bulbs to change from halogen to g4 2 pin edge type mount and 3 or 4 centre mount.....there are so many choices I just don't know what to order.Going to measure lights this week to check.

Do the leds care what voltage they see....is the 12volt dc and 12v ac the same bulb......Thanks in advance..

Bud there was a whole post on this. I believe all the lights that were OEM on the boat are 12volt DC only. MIKE

Thanks Mike, I did read that entire thread, when I checked the bright led site there are many choices , I would like to know a little more specifics so maybe I can order from Amazon in Canada....the border shipping is very costly for us.....made lots of orders from Summit et al over the years, no more, retired now, fixed income, on an allowance..

Amazon.ca has quite a selection. Remember you get what you pay for when it comes to LEDs. Having said that, lots of cheapies out there seem to have lasted a long time. Pretty hard to spend thousands on high quality stuff to convert all the lights when it's so appealing to get the cheaper stuff made overseas. Some of the main differences are output intensity, quality of the colour, component quality, colour uniformity, tolerances, etc. Regardless of the ones you buy, I recommend getting a few spares of each type. Years down the road when you need to replace one, chances are the specs/components will differ slightly and you'll have one or two lights/illuminations that'll be noticeably different than the rest.

Unless you're replacing a fixture that is specifically 120 AC, it's likely all your fixtures are 12 volt DC but to make sure, turn the lights in question on, and then shut off your AC mains. If the lights remain on, unless you have an auto switching inverter, the lights are 12 volts. You can't run units designed for 12 volts off a 120 volt source unless you incorporate a voltage converter of some sort.

I have played with LED bulbs extensively over the years. If you want a good G4, this is about as good as it gets. Entirely encapsulated in silicone and dimmable with the appropriate dimmer (PWM). 3 watt, Warm white is what you want. I am also in Canada. Looked at amazon.ca and that is what the problem is (Too many choices ), I was hoping someone had already successfully done this so I could just copy that and be successful with out blazing any trails......

MS I checked out the link and they look like a good bulb , but what would you use for the side mount fixtures, or are those good for both side and rear pin locations?? ...The ones I have seen so far for the side mount are more like a disc shape with varying amounts a leds.....confusing...

So a little more knowledgeable now , checked boat yesterday and found I need at least 5 trim rings and lenses, apparently these are made from unobtainium so now I am really confused as to what to do.

One site that has some fixtures for the Hera ones there now, the units and shipping and etc will be close to 600 with the led bulbs as well. There has to be a better solution....off to Rv store today , yaaa road trip.....

Well road trip paid off, Rv place had a very good price on leds .....bulbs seem pretty good as well....

Well we found some 12v led puck lights hidden at the back of H.D. in a 5 pack. store guy didn't even know they were there, wife found them....gonna hook them up at home to a battery with a charger connected to test them before installation..if they work I can use the spare parts in the other lights and just put led bulbs in the balance I hope....

I have used quite a few different lights from HD and Ikea. I just look at the supplied transformer to see if the output is 12v and I am good to go. Ikea has lots of nice stuff at very reasonable prices by the way.
