Per the owner's manual the 97 Carver 405 had an inverter installed when the optional stereo was installed. I have not searched the vessel. I was hoping someone can provide the location, manufacturer, or model number of the inverter? Thanks in advance
Dan

my 405 had one installed from carver.i also have all the stereo equipment installed by the steps going to the aft stateroom . of course its a bit old school now. mine was under the galley seat in the storage cubby that is right below the electrical panel doors. raise that cushion i bet yours is in there if it was from carver. it was only a 600w inverter but it was a pretty good set up. i have since replaced and rewired mine for more usage and capacity.

g36,
If you are talking about the compartment directly below the panel, there is no sign of the converter? The white panel board has no evidence of mounting holes or holes for wiring. Interesting neither stereo power up? I haven't checked for 12vdc at the stereos, I think that's the next step. I should check the breaker for wiring also.

sorry its not there. you can look in the engine room aft wall above the fuel selector switches and see if you have a black box with a resetable fuse for the inverter . i think mine was a 80 amp there should be some extra wiring to it 2awg was what mine had. also by the stereo compartment on the right side i have a small vertical cabinet door think there was a place for liquor bottles etc open it and there is a small on off switch located just inside the door upper left wall that turned mine off and on.i think there is also a ac receptacle in there on the upper back wall that the stereo system plugs into.

OK I have exhausted places to look. On sign of the inverter. Perhaps I am miscommunicating. The stereo at the aft stairs is an automotive Kenwood stereo with a CD changer, also automotive. All run on 12vdc. g36 you must have a home style stereo requiring 110vac, thus the need for the inverter.

Yes it's a home 3 piece style receiver, cassette tape player and cd . Built into the wall storage going to the aft cabin. This was from carver oem. Yes that did necessitate the inverter. Sorry I assumed you were speaking of the same when you first posted. This is not my boat but here's a pic of the area if you zoom in. The stereo components are located where the double doors are. They removed them installed the system and left the other storage areas alone.

Thanks for your help. The OEM Kenwood is in the same location. They added a black panel board to mount the dash board style receiver and the 10 disc changer. I'm sure there's room to remove and add shelves for a home media unit. That is for another day.

If anyone has any interest, I have the kenwood cd head unit and cd changer from my boat. It worked well. I will give it to anyone that wants to pay shipping. Shouldn't be more than $25 -30.
