CO monitor power issue on carver 356

QR_BBPOST If those CO monitors are 5 years or older they are no longer useable and need to be replaced.Seems to me that on my boat the monitors are wired directly to the batteries( one or the other ) much like the bilge pumps.Check on your safety breaker panel beside the breakers for the bilge pumps, maybe there.Might I suggest a new thread about this, you have 7 pages and hard to check back thru, different subjects......


Thanks Bud, agreed 7 pages was too long to go through, so I am creating a new subject. The CO monitors are brand new, got them last September or October with 5 year life span on them from last year. Under bottom steps there is a co detector breaker location, but I do not think there is any breaker. Looks like a place holder. it looks like a button, but its not. So I think you are right, direct connection to battery. I'll check, not sure why it just went off out of the blue. Unless wire came loose maybe.

I still have not found the cause of this. The steps have some mention of CO detector, but it is not a switch (under the first steps, where battery selector switch is). There are couple switches/fuse there, but the one labeled CO detector is like a dummy switch. Does anyone know if the power for the CO detectors go through console up on top?

Take a pic of it and post....I have an idea you may be looking at the breaker....if it has a small slot that you poke a small tool into to trip the breaker......check to see if it is like that.

I just went through all my pics, and that's the one I did not catalog I will snap a pic when I get to it this weekend. I thought it was as you say, but did not see how it worked. Because on far left there are some with switches, on far right side, including CO detector along with some others have like red glass like thing. But it does not slide or click or move. One would think it should have a breaker. Also you do not think there is anything to do with that up on topside console? I am hoping I did not accidentally do something when I was updating radar.

Bud, thanks. That's what it turned out to be. sticking a small tool made a button pop up. then pressed it back in, and voila, power back on on the CO detectors

Those breakers are like that so you can't inadvertently switch them off.

That's a good idea, but the problem is there is nothing visually indicating that it is tripped. So I was not even aware those were functional switches Well now I know

Tricky little buggers them breakers! Do you know why it tripped? I think the 5 year life on the detectors is just so they can sell new ones, since its a law! Were you able to find duo purpose detectors for both CO2 and Smoke?

I may have tripped it, I am guessing, while replacing radar. It happened after that. All 3 are new so its not a 5 year issue anymore.
