Replacement Light Housing

In the process of converting all of the house lights to LED bulbs on our 2003 356. Learned the hard way the housing is very brittle as I have broken two so far. The trim ring is fine its the plastic lip around the housing that the trim ring twists on to that has broken. Now the lense cover won't stay attached. Before I call Carver to see about ordering new housings does anybody have a better (less expensive option)?

Before you go too far, do a quick search on the forum for led conversions etc....there is lots of info.....FYI...if those lights you have are Hera ( name on inside ) they are made of unobtanium... :-D

I've got a 356 as well and I did replace all my bulbs with LED's. I was just real careful not to break any, but you are right, they are brittle. All I have left is to replace all the courtesy floor bulbs

They get that way due to the baking caused by the halogen bulb. Once converted to LED the drying process greatly diminishes. The previous owner replaced the one over the galley sink with a horrible looking non matching led fixture and one of them in the aft cabin was kinda hanging in there. I elected to remove the 2 in the rear head to fix those and replaced the head fixtures with units I found at Home Depot which were similar and look real nice. This way there were no mismatches in the same room and you really cannot tell. Just an other option to consider.

You could always hope these guys have some parts for the Hera lights however most of the popular stuff is sold out and will not be available. https://www.eclectic-ware.com/hera-ligh ... parts.html New fixtures are still the best route for the long term.

FYI, I took temps of my bulbs before and after. The halogens were around 200 degrees. My new LED's were in the 120 range. Big difference.
