50 125 Pedestal Connectors

I have an early 1998 405 with the old connectors I have learned.
These are the 50/125 type as shown. I am told 50/125/250 will not work.

I am running 2 eel converters to connect to the 30 amp connectors as shown

I have updated the pedestal to 50 amp breakers but I need the 50/125 connectors for the pedestal so the boat will have the correct setup.

Any idea where I can obtain 2 50/125 connectors for the pedestal itself at?

Ebay. :-D https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marinco-6370Cr ... 2363018844

I hope you checked the wire size to the pedestal as a 50a connector does require a larger gauge feed wire. Running 50a through a 30a rated wire will get rather hot! I know your boat will never draw that much but technically speaking you should check it out to be on the safe side.

I have just one question........how is there two 50amp circuits from the marina breaker panel to the shore pedestal....or are you splitting 240 at the pedestal ?

Gents, A/C and electrical are my 2 weak points although I have been a automotive service manager for 25 years.
Tony lives on B pier that can be seen in the background. Tony is about 60 and has a 65 ft newer houseboat and the marina uses him. He has been an electrician most of his life I am told.
He told me he could replace the breakers in the pedestal but that wasnt going to do anything until I got off the eel pigtails. He said it would be almost impossible to find these connectors but ya found them. I purchased both from the link provided. Thanks Hans

Pier is concrete as shown and about 5 years old. Not sure about the gauge wire but I will ask. I only have the 2 a/c's running most of the time. $155 light bill last month ouch but she is warm or cool everytime I step on board and I keep a heater set at 69 in the hull so my engines stay warm with all doors closed.

Thanks again for everything and I will ask the electrician about your questions....

Who knew I would baby this boat like I have. I just got back from WDW for 10 days and I cannot remember going this long without running the engines every 4 or 5 days for 10 minutes or so since I bought her last summer.
Normally taken out every other week for an hour or so. I call it stretching her legs.

I plan on doing a lot to her this summer. How often do ya run your engines and is there anything I need to do to keep the electrical up to date ya might can think of?

The good thing is nobody will be plugging into your shore power plug when you are not there. :-D You still will have a problem plugging in elsewhere so do keep the 30amp eel pigtails on board for transient dockage use.

I have a similar situation however my home marina does not charge electrical usage but does have different rates for 50A and 30A plug-ins. I have always used the 30A on previous boats with a 30-30-30 Y however my ‘new to me’ 410 has two 50A/125V inputs. My plan is to use a 50-50-50 Y at the boat inputs and then a 50-30A adapter at the pedestal so that I continue to pay the 30A rate. I went this route so that we won’t be drawing more than the 30A being supplied by the pedestal.

We have always done a good job budgeting our amperage useage and don’t run the coffee maker at the same time as the air conditioners, etc but can be a pain at times.

I can think of two options. 1) If your normal current draw is low, replace the 50A sockets on the boat with standard 30A sockets. You would be able to use normal 30A cords with no adapters. (Assuming dual 30a shore power)
2) Rewire your boat for a single 50a/250v socket. Probably best done by an electrician. You would need to replace your power cord and would probably need expensive adapters.

All great ideas and my boating area is limited to the reservoir I am docked on. It is 16 miles long and 7 miles wide, 33,000 acres, 60 ft deep max with an average of 12 ft deep. So once I get the pedestal changed, I am good. I bought the boat primarily to use as a dock queen and cruise to the middle of the reservoir. Park and ride Waverunners around it with my daughter and wife, maybe watch a John Wayne movie or two.
Just trying to enjoy life and family.

Serendipity, the only reason I asked was I get concerned about the correct wiring for the AC feeds for the dock to the boat......it takes an electrician that understands the marine side of it, and making sure the phasing and grounding is correct or all sorts of bad things can happen when going from 4 wire to three if that is the case here. Just my uneducated opinion of course, and you seam to have an experienced guy doing this, so onward and upward.
