We have a 1988 3806 Aft cabin that has enclosure around aft deck that needs to be painted. What type of paint would you use. Not sure what this material is. :help: :help: :help:

If fiberglass, use awlgrip. Never needs waxing, nor should you wax it. If you wax it, it yellows.
It's a two part epoxy system
It's what is used on hatteras and larger yachts
Thanks

Thanks for you response. I do think it is fiberglass. Where could I purchase this paint?

Any marine supply store should have the ability to get out for you. Look up awkgrip and read up in it before you buy.
And there are different shades of white.
Thanks

A 1988 3807 Motor Yacht would have plexiglass weatherboards around the aft deck. I'm not sure what you could paint plexiglass with that would stick, although I know later that Carver used clear plex transom doors that they painted white, I assume with Awlgrip

You are correct! I was thinking of our ex-4207, which was all fiberglass.
I am going to bet that Awlgrip will not work, but the best way to find out is contact them directly.
Maybe simply replace the smoked plastic with white plexiglass?
Thanks

If anybody is willing to trade their smoked plastic for my white plastic (near mint) I would be totally up for that! I was considering having the panels custom cut for me at a glass/plexi shop....a trade would be way better and a win-win for a guy who wants white!
