Postby Labradors3 » April 15th, 2017, 9:59 am

We want to replace the aft deck ice maker with a refrigerator. Where can we purchase?

Don't know who's available in your area but a Google search might help. I think your biggest challenge might be finding a fridge that will fit in the available space. I'm sure it'll require a larger cutout but will the cabinet accommodate it? Take some measurements before you decide on a model.

You'll also need to decide if you want a dual voltage fridge. If you do, you'll need to run a 12V DC supply to that location as I'm sure you'll only have 120V AC there right now.

You also need to make sure the fridge is rated to be "built in". This usually means it will have a louver on the top or bottom to allow the condenser fan to move air. Otherwise it will get to hot in the wet bar cabinet, the fridge will not cool properly and the compressor will fail prematurely.

Check out Edge Star, thought I found one looking for an icemaker, which I did buy and replace the Icerette with.

The EdgeStar ice maker was slightly larger, had to trim 1/4" on the top and sides of cabinet, then made some trim and wedged top and sides. The price difference was worth the modification. Also replaced the OEM plumbing with pix and quick fittings.
