Fresh Water Plastic Plumbing

Postby jsurfwhite » June 15th, 2020, 4:34 pm

My 2000 356 Aft Deck has a leaking water fitting at the connection to the shower in the forward head. The leak occurred at the elbow that connects to a female bulkhead fitting that goes through the wall. It is located behind the galley bench. The fitting is plastic push on the end that connects to the water tubing. The fitting is marked as 15 mm. On the other end is a male threaded adapter with an o-ring, that threads in to the bulkhead fitting. My question: I cannot find an exact match in West Marine, Defender, hardware store. Is the tubing 1/2" or 15 mm? Is the thread BSP or NPT? I can piece together a fix if I know that. I don't want a bad fit with this connection. Thanks

The tubing is I believe 15mm, unless someone has been in there before......the size is usually stamped on the tubing.
The above is strictly my opinion.

If the fitting is marked 15mm you have 15mm tube. This is rather common on most boats as well as mine and the same for the previous 3 boats I have owned.

Thread is npt. Regardless 1/2" npt or bsp both have 14 threads per inch so they are compatible. The thread angle varies slightly between the two but the still work fine together.

Thanks. I confirmed with Carver the tubing is 15mm, and the threes are NPT. I found the 15 mm tubing fittings at Fresh Water Systems. They supply the Watts OEM fittings that Carver used.
