Almost a Carver owner

Hello new guy here. Working a deal on what I believe is a 1979 Carver 3326 with twin 270 Crusaders. Hour meter shows 475 hours. She is currently on a trailer and has been there for at least 8 years. It is actually in pretty good shape. I have questions about where to find the HIN and what transmissions came with the 270 Crusader. I wouldn't mind any tips of things that I need to be looking at problem wise.
Thanks,
Todd

The HIN number will be located on the stern. I believe Carvers of that age the HIN is on the stern just below the rubrail. That is where it is on my 81 Carver.
I have 270 Crusaders in mine and the transmissions are Velvet Drives.
Looks like a decent boat in the picture you provided. Hope all works out well for you.

Welcome aboard Todd. Rick has mentioned the most typical location HIN. It's usually on the starb side or the transom above or below the swim platform. You can also try looking on the inboard side of the stringers.
If she's been sitting unattended, outside and exposed to the elements, I would be extra diligent at assessing her condition. Get a survey so that you'll know what you're purchasing, what you'll need to address, how much money you'll need to spend to correct any deficiencies, and whether you'll be able to go boating right away or wait until major deficiencies are addressed. It's also a useful negotiating tool.
Good luck Todd, I hope it works out in your favour. Keep us posted.

We went through this in 2013/2014.
If you are going to pay somebody to get the vessel going, you will go broke.
In the end, we are glad we did what we did, since now I have me go fast and she has her cruiser.
Our 30 year old boat is in New condition now. Picked it up for 3,500 and sunk another 20,000 into it.only thing I paid somebody foot was the survey, painting the arch, and installing carpet and granite.

Make sure you get a survey. Good luck with the project.
