New to Carver

Hello everyone...I will be taking delivery of my new (to me) 81 3007 Aft cabin this weekend. Very nice little boat... Right now it is Marina Del Rey and I will be cruising her down to Huntington Harbor a week later.

This will be my 7th boat, but first Carver. I am moving up from a Bayliner 2850 Contessa (which is now for sale btw...). My first with Ford engines, I am used to Chevys...

Anything I should be on the look out for? Are they prone to any problems or weirdness?

I have always been active on the Bayliner forums, and it would be cool if this one would build up. I learn a lot from other people, which can save tons of money and headaches as we deal with our older boats.

Anyway, all feedback and advice are appreciated...like I said I am an experienced boater, but new to Carver...hope to interact with you all soon...

Welcome Dan,
I am new to the forum also, about 1 week. I am launching my 1st boat of this size and type, this weekend. It sat for the last 5 yrs so hopefully it will start. I believe I have Fords also, but can't comment on them until Sunday. Good luck with your boat and I am anxious to hear about your trip and experiences also.

My first boat was a brand new 1989 Bayliner 2455 with a ford enigine. The boat and engine served us extremely well for the 12 years we owned it.

I had a Ford Galaxy 500 (I think) many years ago with a Ford 351 in it. Hmmm...though I remember working on it a lot.

Welcome! When we were in California with our 28 carver, we kept the boat in Ventura. We had a perfect slip - by the yacht club, with the ocean a short walk across the street. Loved it there. Probably should have stayed!

So how did ur cruise with the new boat go? I launched our new boat on Sat. It sat 5 yrs, and after getting the2 gallons of water out of the fuel, both engines started and ran awesome. We even started the generator.

I have grown up on boats, owned now 7 from 19 to 35 feet, including two sailboats, and I have lived on two boats.

I am moving up from an 85 28 foot Bayliner Contessa (which is now for sale btw) which til now has been my favorite boat ever. This carver is an old boat in really nice shape. Meticulously taken care of. Tons of room for a 30 footer. I am cruising from Marina Del Rey to Huntington Harbor in the next few weeks to park her in her new slip. I love to see what others have done to make their boats better and better. I love to share ideas and steal ideas.

Carvers are either some of the best, or the ugliest boats on the water. But it seems the uglier they are the better the layout. I love this 3007 as it has. Great layout and a great traditional look.
