Greetings all ... thank you for the add

Postby Tmac928 » November 27th, 2021, 10:08 am

We are in the process of buying a 2000 Trojan 440 Express (by Carver). A survey is being done next week. We're hoping that everything goes well. I would also like what the Carver family here thinks of this boat, I know that's a loaded question because of each's own opinions and preference .... but take it easy on me, I'm new here.
I am a dIY with a mechanical engineering and fabrication background. This is our 6th boat in 30 years of boating. We are actively involved in the Coast Guard Auxiliary where I'm a coxswain.
We are in the Southcoast of MA (Buzzards Bay).

Best Regards
Tony & Alice

Totally love that boat. Built like a brick house. While at a marina, a 440 came in to tie up at a wall. The captain was nervous as he had hit a penciled 36 ft post at full plane in Lake Michigan. He thought he may have damaged the hull. End result? Nothing. Just a minor scuff in the bottom paint where the post made contact. Hull is solid, no coring. First time I saw a boater drink a martini at 7:AM. He was really shaken up. Really comes down to how the engines and drives were maintained. I would get a good mechanic to do a mechanical survey also. Lot of people looking for that model, but there are not a lot around for sale. Testament to owner satisfaction. Good luck. Let us know how the survey(s) come out. 8-) er

Update ; survey went well and they accepted our offer ... WOW what a great running and handling boat (Cummins 8.3 450hp). I was very impressed with the performance, going fast and slow. Going thru the documentation buying process now and should close before the end of the year.

Merry Christmas everyone
