New to boats - purchased an 87 Mariner 3297
I hope everyone is well. I love cars and guns and just recently purchased a new toy.
Not quite sure which forum I should start with. I do have a quick question…I did purchase an aftermarket steering wheel to replace that God awful one that’s in there now…are the steering wheels easy to replace on the Mariner?
Thanks for everyone’s patient as I learn.
Kindly,
v/r,
Stephen

I suggest you start by finding your local power squadron and take at least a few courses.
As for the steering wheel, what's wrong with it? It should be stainless steel so should clean up nicely.
But if you must change it, the center cover should pop out. Remove the nut. Then remove the wheel. You may need a puller to do so.
It's bolted to the hem, which is most likely a Hynautic H50. It is the pump. Do not hit on the wheel at all; you could damage the pump. It is obsolete. You can buy parts.
