Hello!
We have owned and sailed on a 46' sailboat for a number of years, but are getting a little older, as we all are (sigh), and are looking at the subject boat. I have looked at a number of sites talking about this model and it seems like it is a good boat for day/overnight sailing, but not for long distance sailing or handling weather in the C'Bay.
I have read the forum comments about checking for things, and it has been helpful! Thanks....but any other thoughts on what to look for before deciding to spend some money on a survey?
Thanks!
Ken

If you are absolutely sure that's the model for you and
do my own pre survey you probably did when you bought your sailboat. then I would take note of condition of things. Does all systems work? Engines start and run. Anything obvious. How the engine room access for standard maintance like impellers, battery access etc. Is there fuel in all the tanks? Especially the aft tank which is located under the swim plat form. If there is the carver oem dock box mounted on swim platform make sure the deck around it and the swim ladder grab handle show no spongyness or water intrusion/moisture here , take it out with owner and see how it handles. Good luck spend some time maybe find another 355/356 to compare. But enjoy your search and the survey money will be well spent regardless of a purchase or not ,welcome

Ken, we have had our 356 for 7 years now and have been happy with it. Big enough the wife and I are very comfortable, but small enough that the 2 of us can easily handle it. Let me know if you have any specific questions and will be happy to answer.KeninVA wrote:QR_BBPOST Hello!

Where in VA are you and where is the boat you are looking at? Is it the one in Urbanna?
