Navigation Packages?

Postby dirtdoc1 » January 5th, 2014, 12:37 am

Hi Folks,

I'm getting a brand new baby Carver C34 in a couple of weeks and have to make some decisions about what electronics to purchase. I've been looking for a navigation package the has broad band 4g radar/GPS/Chart plotter/Fish Finder. I have not been able to find a package that has all of those things. At least I can't tell. It's very confusing what the existing packages actually have. I would like to get Simrad, Raymarine or Lowrance because those appear to be the only brands with 4g broad band radar. I'm not looking for a combination unit with all of those things in the same box. I would like to get a networked system with separate units but I can't find a package deal and I don't know enough to buy all of what's required to make it all communicate and work together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Confused

I can't help you. I'd rather have a large open array antenna with 6kw+. I am not that concerned with close-in returns as you probably are in the fog. On the Great Lakes, I am more concerned with unreported developing weather over the horizon, many miles away.

I would think of the three, Raymarine would offer repeaters so you can have as many screens as you'd like. Call Raymarine and speak with them directly; some of these dealers, I don;t know if they know all they should about the brands they sell.
Thanks
