Detroit Boat Show

Postby RGrew176 » February 21st, 2019, 2:02 am

I went to the boat show on Wednesday. Looked at quite a few nice boats. A few of them were in the 40'+ range. Definitely out of my price range.

Shock of the show. There was a pontoon boat there with a list price of $249,000. Unless it was the wrong sign or a mis-print I have to wonder who would pay that much for a pontoon boat. Was it nice? Yes. But not $249K nice.

Wow. Seems like a "lot" of pontoon!!! I haven't been down to the show yet and not sure I'm going to get there. Did you think it was much better than the one last year or 2017?

Looking forward to it moving back to January!

Some of those pontoons have twin 300's on them. There is one in our regular boating area we call the "evil pontoon" because it blows by us at about 60mph.

Gotta get me one of those to go along with the 200,000 dollar tent we just got...... :-D
The above is strictly my opinion.

Glad this thread popped up. Missed the Chicago boat show but will be in DTW all day tomorrow. Any must see items?
Thank you for the help!

I hope you inquired on the "show SPECIAL" price. That's right, I know it's hard to believe,...but you can buy that $250K pontoon boat for just the crazy, crazy low price of $199,999.99. Yup, you can pinch yourself to make sure you're not dreaming,...just $199,999.99. Pay no attention to the guy behind the curtain, or the guy behind the smoke, or that other guy standing by the mirrors. Believe me, Pontoon Pete, I sell more pontoons than anybody west of the west coast. And I am GIVING this beauty away. Just $199,999.99 for a $250,000 bucket of fun & frolic. Wait till you see how many beautiful women line up to get on this hot ship with you! Why, the very name of this beauty is HOT SHIP! Just $199,999.99 just sign here. Don't read that fine print, it's just real small so you can't see what you don't understand anyway. Just think of how many friends you will have when you tell 'em you paid $250K for this PONTOON, but it really only cost you $199,999.99 + tax.

There are some big boats there. 40 something Beneteau, Prestige, some larger Formulas and Sea Rays. Like most years now lots of fishing and pontoon boats. I was looking at Jetskis. Thinking I might get myself one next year.

I want to look at the underwater lights. I have a 356 that I would like to add them to. Honestly I think it’s a safety issue. Imagine it’s dark, there’s been say a cocktail party at the neighbors boat and someone falls in while boarding...
