We all know how to tie up our boats however are you really doing it correctly? I know I do need to check my method as after seeing this video I am no longer sure. Interesting to say the least.

Fil is the one who loves to do the lines, when I do it, oh boy!!!! I made that knot so many different ways and she has corrected me so many times. Lines are an art, not like trying to tie your shoes. Can you imagine this guy watching all us week-end captains?

While these look pretty, it is arguable if it is the "perfect" way.

By doing to the far side of the cleat for the first turn, you are concentrating all the load on the one or two screws on that side of the cleat. By turning first on the near side of the cleat, you're applying some portion of the oblique load to those two screws, then a lateral force with the remaining load on the other two screws, effectively spreading the load somewhat across all four screws.
