Almost Over

Postby RGrew176 » October 11th, 2020, 4:48 am

My season is just about over. Fact of life up here in the northern climate. All in all a good season considering the Covid situation. Almost all of our boat club activities were cancelled because of the situation.

Friday was the day that I decided to winterize those things i do myself on my Carver. I ran all the water out of the onboard water tanks and then I drained the water heater. Then I used my small air compressor to blow out the water lines. After that I put in 15 gallons of -50* pink stuff. Running the pump again I ran the pink stuff through all the water lines. Task one was complete.

Then I disconnected the water line to the head from the seacock. Getting another gallon of the pink stuff I hit the switch and ran that through the toilet and into the holding tank. Task two was complete.

Next I put 1/2 gallon of the pink stuff through the shower sump. Task three completed.

That is pretty much the things I do. I will let the marina mechanic winterize the engines and the A/C system. One other thing I did when I ran the pink stuff through the water lines was to fill a couple of the empty jugs with pink stuff. Then I poured that into the bilge and ran it through the bilge pumps to winterize them.

I plan to put in fuel stabilizer into each tank add about 45 gallons of fuel to each tank then take the boat out for one last little run the head to be hauled out on or about the 23rd. The 2020 season is over now thinking about 2021.

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun aboard my jetski this season. Put 38.3 hours on the ski about 16 on the boat. The jetski was hauled and winterized and is now in winter storage waiting for spring 2021. I hope all of you had as great a season as I did all in all in spite of the situation we all faced.

Hoping 2021 will be better.

YYYYEP! Today is haul out for Cooler. Time to plan the off season boating activities. Not going to do any of that work. Store in heated building. So much easier. Had a hairy cruise yesterday from Menominee to Sturgeon Bay. First 10 miles pretty rough, but second 15 miles were way better as the peninsula was providing some wave relief. Cooler ran like a champ, as she always does. 8-) er

You were waiting for Halloween I guess. :-D That is really late to haul, in our area all marinas and facilities are closed up for the winter already.

Glad to hear you are out and the good news is we are going to have a heat wave for the next week or so with temps around room temperature during the day, late Indian summer! Probably warmer where you are by a few degrees. Nice winterizing weather for sure.
Cheers, Hans

Mine was hauled on October 30th and is still waiting to get wrapped up for the winter. Not sure what the hold up is. Hope they get her wrapped up soon.

Let's look at the bright side! Only 167 days till we launch for the 2021 season. By that time, a lot of us should have been vaccinated and we can return to a modified version of normal. 8-) er

Good stuff....

Lets hope they get on with this vaccine already......by coincidence that is almost the same amount of days to the 2021 Masters...... :-D
The above is strictly my opinion.

Yep! Another pharma announcing 95% efficacy rate for Covid vaccine, Moderna. Yoo Hoo! We should have at least a couple of options. That will be a short reign for Masters champ, unless he repeats! 166 days to go! 8-) er
