I have tranny fluid leaking into the bilge from both v-drives. I'm not sure where it's coming from, but was just wondering if I can get some good tips on what I can do/check myself before I have to pay a mechanic big $$$ to fix them. Thanks in advance and cheers!

First thing , make sure the dipsticks are in and tight.....clean everything and put some white oil pads under the trannies to see where the oil is coming from. That will help to see/ find the source.

Is it both trans and did this just start ?

There's a few possibilities depending on the brand and model. Some that come to mind are output and input seals, dipstick port, housing or pump gaskets, vent, oil lines and fittings at the unit and cooler. As bud said, wipe down the trannys, lines and fittings, coolers, etc. and the bilge so that any oil present later gives you an indication of where the leak is. The oil pad sheets really help narrow down where the oil is dripping from but you can't assume that's the exact area of the leak as the oil can be traveling down hill from another spot.
