How about hiring a Captain to run it up the coast for you?

My first thought was..."Screw that. I'm a Cpt. My boat. If anyone is going to take that trip it will be me. What a stupid idea." Second thought was..."Hmmm...maybe not such a bad idea. Cost wouldn't be that far off. Even with 8.1s, and even though its a pig. Wouldn't have to tear the boat apart. I might be able to meet it part way and enjoy part of the ride. Bet shipping from Rome or Chattanooga is much more doable. I'll look into it."

Thanks. Good idea. Not sure it will work, but definitely worth a look.

I'm pretty sure the maximum height with the boat on the trailer is 13'6". I'm not sure where the 15'6" measurement came from, maybe with more $$$ thrown at permits that can be obtained. Beware certain states also require police escorts for over sized loads and that's costly. You will need to remove the bridge. The arch can stay on the bridge but bridge will need to come off. Depending on the trailer the shafts can stay on. The trailer will be scraping the ground for you to make the 13'6" clearance with the bridge off. Carver can tell you this and so can Joule yacht.

Good Luck!

I really like closing the loop on these projects, and appreciate all the input from all of the sources. Greatly appreciated. Bottom line is that I connected with a transport company out of MS, Brothers Marine Transport. They apparently have developed a little niche in this area, and have a lowbow that doubles as a wet launch trailer, and has an attached crane. They take the boat apart at the pick up point (presumably a marina with the boat on jackstands), including rudders, props, etc; they disconnect the upper bridge sleeve and mount it in front of the boat itself on the lowboy; finally, they deliver the boat and reinstall everything themselves. Bonus...they were significantly less expensive than a la carte options of marinas (and in my case, since we are going on a lake with no crawler) the additional expense of a crane.
