Mid bilge pump on 530 carver pilothouse

Postby daqcraig » June 13th, 2018, 9:50 am

I need to replace my mid bilge pump on my 2001 530 pilot house . My mechanic is telling me it is located directly under two AC units and will be a major deal replacing the pump . Can anyone shed light on this ? Surely such an important pump wouldn't be placed in an impossible to get to place ??

Thanks for your help

Welcome aboard!

I can't help with the location and issues surrounding that location in your boat.

I do however take difference with your "Surely...." statement. I think the designers of these things take a sick enjoyment in locating things in almost impossible to reach places.

Good Luck!
Thanks

Nothing on these boats is easy to get at.

It's not complicated at all. Check by you master state bed, there is a cover on the floor very accessible. Mechanics are great at exaggerating repairs.

And make sure it is not simply the auto float switch before you replace the pump. The switches fail way more often than the actual pump. If the switch is the problem, make sure to replace that with a low profile float. Atwood makes a low profile style. 8-) er
