1994 390CPMY interior wood

Postby tonyiiiafl » May 9th, 2021, 7:58 pm

DOs anyone know the interior wood used on a 1994 390CPMY? Cherry? Teak? I need to get. Some to replace a faux pas!

It may depend on what option was ordered, there may have been two or three choices of finish, not sure if they changed the wood veneer or just the finish......do you have a well lit pic of it....that may help someone to notice....good to hear things are going the right way.
The above is strictly my opinion.

Mine is advertised as Cherry. That being said, many older boats had solid wood, newer ones like mine have basically an ultra thin lamination obviously to cut costs however engineered wood does have an advantage when it comes to product stability. Do not know where or how big the area is you need to repair/replace but you could consider a wrap if the area is suitable visually. I did do this to my galley where everything in black you see is a wrap. The sharp edges on the drawers and cupboard did not look good at all. Beauty of a wrap is it is easily reversible back to original if one so choses.

Before and after pics.

Looks great. I need an overlay of sorts. Drilled twice and measured only once installing a water level gauge. I have solid plywood with a veneer on top. I also though it was cherry. Thank you.
