Carver 466 - Portal trim piece and other parts

Hi Team-Carver - hope all is well during this off-season (I live in NE so....)! New Carver owner, looking for any source of "Carver-specific" parts. Right now I am looking for a trim piece (Cowel?) that goes around the portal in the VIP Head Shower - the current one is broken and loose (picture attached - must have been some rough seas to shower in!!!) and I would like to replace it. I also have 1 or 2 other "Carver" things that I may need to replace - that said, the boat is in great shape overall and happy to have gotten it! If anyone has any tips on where to find parts (new/used - doesn't matter to me as long as they work!) I would appreciate it.

If the outside measurements of your trim ring is 22"L x 11" H, the Pompanette part number should be VT517-1-1/16OW ("White VAC trim for 517") This was for a 2003 466 MY but likely the same unit. You should have them confirm first based on your picture and measurements. Hopefully they still have them.

Keep us posted and if you end up with something else and a different part number, please post it for future reference.

Turns out you were exactly correct on the measurements and part # VT517-1-1/16OW ("White VAC trim for 517")! They confirmed and I purchased 2 at $107 apiece. I'm working on installing them now. It seems that over 20+ years (2001 model) the shower walls have either moved or shrunk, as the gap between the wall and the hull has increased significantly. I don't want to force the wall back to the hull too much and risk cracking everything, so I have bought some longer stainless screws and a pile of stainless washers to use as spacers, and will be finishing the install that way. Let us never "rock the boat"!

Thank you for this post. My inner trim ring on my 44 CMY portal is cracked in the same manner. Maybe update us on how difficult this was to replace once you are done.

Hi Greg and Team,

The trim pieces fit great! The install is easy - biggest thing to remember is to not let the Porthole assembly fall out while you remove all the screws from the interior stainless trim ring, which pins the plastic trim piece to the wall. One of my portholes was "loose" when I took the screws out so I held onto it while removing the trim piece. (caulking when resetting).
For the master head, because of slight wall-shifting, I needed to cut a small notch in the top of the trim piece to fit around the porthole hinge - easy peasy with a sharp box cutter. Picture below. For the VIP Head, pretty much done but still casting about for a good looking piece of white(ish) insulation pad to plug the small gap where the wall of the shower doesn't quite come back to the hull. hopefully yours fit perfectly so you won't have to worry about that part.
