What model?

Hello all. I just purchased a 1981 23’ Carver. I’m trying to find out exactly what model it is. Someone has put stickers on the side that say “Montego”, but I’m just not sure. I’ve seen two brochures that list features for models. The description of the 2347 Offshore matches my boat more than the 2357 Montego. It talks about two removable transom storage wells, and that it sleeps two…. Where as the description of the Montego says it sleeps 4. There is no way 4 people can sleep in my cabin!!!
Any info y’all might have is appreciated!

A picture will help identify the boat, please post one. On the transom there should be a hull ID number (HIN) that can be decoded to get the info you want. Looks something like this. https://www.boat-ed.com/canada/studyGui ... 99_115812/

Welcome aboard by the way. :captain2:

Welcome aboard!!

I didn't know Carver made anything smaller than 25' in the 80's!! The old PowerBoat guidebook that I have only lists the 2687 Monterey as the smallest they made in the early 80's. The smallest Montego they show was the 2757 and that showed up in 1986 (according to them).

Post up some pics when you get a chance!

Here’s a few pics of the boat. Registration says it’s a 1981. HULL number says 81….. that’s all I know to decide.

Have not been able to find your boat in pictures however according to this brochure, they list a 2357 Montego as a 1981 so I must assume this is the correct name for it. The newer Montego, although they use the same name, do look different though.

in that brochure the 2347 and 2357 look like they're on the same hulls with the same cabin structure. I wonder how they get from the "sleeps 2" in the 2347 to the "sleeps 4" in the 2357? Does the '47 not have a dinette that converts to "sleeping" quarters? (although with that size cabin, those "sleeping quarters" would only be good for small kids!)

Right, cabin is very small.
Mine does have the removable dinette table.
