Anyone see this? My wife just ran across it as she follows Schooner Island Marina. It is where we bought our boat 2 years ago. We were in a slip on B-dock and the fire took place on the fuel dock, which is C-dock which was just behind us! So crazy and sad!! The boat had apparently just been listed for sale recently too. It was a gasser so based on the event descriptions it sounds like a lack of proper ventilation during and after fueling, but it's still being investigated. Here are a couple news links as well as some photos of the fire and ad listing.

Just posting as a reminder of the hazards when refueling. This could have been so much worse!

Glad no one was seriously injured. I wish news reports provided a bit more detail like if it happened when they tried to start it or if it happened during the refueling. Thankfully these types of events are rare. USCG lists 117 fueling accidents resulting in 3 deaths in 2023. There were over 3,800 total accidents reported in 2023. (source: https://uscgboating.org/library/acciden ... 23-Ch1.pdf)

Hopefully we get more information to learn from as a result of the investigation, if those results are ever published anywhere.

What a shame. Another wake up call to check those power cord inlets and the cord/s. Addition of a gas sniffer if the vessel is gasoline powered also comes to mind.
