Pulled my heat exchanger and sure enough it had a crack in it. Fortunately the shop I took it to was able to repair.....

Now the question is why did it crack? Did the shop offer up any explanation for the crack? Where was the crack? If it was one of the tubes, and the crack bulged outward, that's a pretty tell tale sign that it wasn't winterized properly.

I would follow up on this if I were you. If it was due to improper winterizing, not only should they be compensating you but I wouldn't let them winterize next Fall.

Yep, you always have to look at the brighter side of things. And sometimes we over think these issues and fear the worst, when 9 times out of 10 it's something simple and not to difficult. Glad your issue was solved.
