Rudder shaft repair

You should also check the steering hardware to ensure it is not the problem. You may have either hydraulic or a cable steering system. Either way, disconnect the system from the rudder and check to see if the cable or hydraulic actuator extends and retracts when you turn the wheel. If it doesn't, your rudder hardware is probably fine and the issue is with a different steering component.
