Bass Pro Power series agm

Postby Carverlvr2 » March 13th, 2025, 10:08 pm

Anyone have experience with the BPS Pro Series Agm? BPS had a hella sale a few days ago and after their 30% sale price plus an additional 10% off and an extra $20 for re opening my credit card with them, I picked up 3 of their grp 31’s at $160 ea. And no core charge! They’re 110ah and made by UPG and will only be used for house loads of two fridges, all led lights, and some water/vacuflush use on the hook…I’m guessing 5ah or less. I have 60 days to return if I hear solid evidence not to use them. Otherwise, they’re essentially $200 cheaper than the Sam’s Duracell's. Thoughts? Experience?

How long are you expecting out of it? I think one thing you need to answer is how long on the hook before recharging them? And how much amperage is battery charger,? This will determine genset run time to just recharge. You should only use 1/2 of your battery capacity if you want to expect any life out of these. If dc fridges i belive you'll see around 6amps dc from each of your fridges while they're running. I use 6volt golf car batteries on my house bank now and have for 20yrs. But when these need to be replaced I'll probably look pretty hard at lithium especially now prices are getting more in line with trojan,T105's that I'm using now with useable amps out of each being pretty close

On my 2004 366, I think both DC fridges are smaller/more efficient than the nearly full size you likely have on your 405. I’ve read my NovaKool RFS7501 draws 4ah at full draw and averages 2.5-3ah for normal use and the small isotherm on the bridge is half that. I remember the Norcold “full-size” I had on my 350 drew much more. We’d only be on the hook for a night or two on the weekends and would run the genny for a few hours each day for showers and microwave/cooktop. The charger is 20amp to that bank and it would be 3-110ah agms in parallel, so 165ah usable and I’d Hope/expect to keep them 5+ yrs.
Question is, are the BPS AGM’s worth keeping?
