Post by Rideau2021 »

Has anyone changed their freshwater wash down pump to a lake water one and what is involved?

You will need another pump. In the past on another smaller boat I have tee'd off to a manual toilet intake as opposed to installing a new intake which worked very well. I would not tee off of any engine or generator intake though as you could starve the engine while using wash down. Also would need to tap into your existing line and sever the connection of the potable water which is now your wash down and connect the new raw water line. Odd as normally a wash down is raw water and an additional option is freshwater. I think what you have may have been installed by the PO.

Im also on a freshwater lake. My 405 came from Carver with the washdown connected to the freshwater system. I was fortunate to have a unused capped off seacock in the engine room so I bought a pump connected up to that with strainer plumbed it into the water lines out to the deck. already had a 12vdc wash down switch/breaker in my electrical panel. Mine was easy for sure. I believe youll find it well worth the effort. My dock water pressure is sketchy sometimes dependimg in boaters present so we will use it to wash the boat . Also having unlimited water is really nice while out on the lake washing off bugs on the boat and mud off the anchor.

I lucked out on this one as to PO ordered everything there was which included forward and aft wash down spigots both fresh and raw. I must say I never use the fresh water one as we also boat in very clean fresh water.

Morning dew at anchor this morning.

So if you think the previous owner must have switched it to freshwater there should be a link somewhere to link a pump to lakewater....

Not sure at all after the post above. May be the saltwater delivered boats with wash down come automatically with fresh water wash down. You will need to investigate this yourself as there is in general a lot of modifications done by previous owners. Dig in and take some pics so we can guide through the conversion
